Who Am I?

My name is Benjamin Davis. I am the author of The King of FU (Novella: Nada Blank Press, 2018) and The Babushka Society (Radio Play: She’s In Russia, 2018). I am the co-creator of Flash-365 with Nikita Klimov. I write the column, Conversations with Russians, for Russia Beyond and I am the managing editor of Sexography. My short stories and essays can be found in Defenestration, Human Parts, Cease, Cows, Three Drops Press, and others.

Want to learn more about me. Here is my
Website

On this Patreon page, each month I will create something new. Sometimes it will be an illustrated book, sometimes a novella, sometimes a film or a radio play. Anything that anyone wants to create and needs a storyteller to get it done, I've got you covered.

Tired of reading?

Here is a failed attempt at an introduction video for my Patreon:

And an on-camera interview I did:

Why do I want to collaborate with artists?

Because chocolate bars are better with nuts. Pizza is better with toppings. Coffee is better with at least a little cream. If you don’t agree, you are likely a plain-chocolate, cheese-only-pizza eating, black coffee drinking sociopath.

Please contact me if you would like to work on something. 50% of the monthly payments will be paid to each contributor and I will cover production costs if needed.

Welcome! And, Thank you.

People I have worked with:

Current:

Nastia L. -
An incredibly talented artist and designer from Saint Petersburg, Russia. She has created art for the magazine Sexography that I co-edit and contribute to on Medium and more of her art can be found on Instagram, Tumblr, and Dribble:

• instagram.com/incarmine
• annie-lew.tumblr.com
• dribbble.com/incarmine

Nikita Klimov: one of my best friends and a stupidly talented artist, Nikita and I have worked together on Flash-365, The King of FU, and The Babushka Society. We have rings that, when pressed together form Benita Klavis!

Demetria Bridges:
The wonderfully talented voice actress Demetria Bridges worked with me to bring a collection of humorous essays to life in Some French Words That Sound Real Good. Find her other works HERE

SIR Podcast: The talented duo, Lily and Smith run the podcast She's in Russia, or SIR, a nuanced, well-researched, sometimes funny weekly conversation between two best friends about Russian history, culture, current events, and everyday life.

Moreblueberries
: My brother who is a writer, photographer, 3D designer, videographer and all-around more creative person than me has worked with me on The Babushka Society, The King of FU and a variety of other ventures.

Konstantin Muromtsev (KM): a photographer, artist, motion designer, 3D designer who is always surprising me with fantastic new creations and ideas. We have worked together on projects outside of Patreon but most recently he created a motion-graphics rendition of The Babushka Society. You can find more of his work HERE

Stephanie Stickel

A German children's book illustrator and longtime collaborator who helped me bring The Fox and the Bear to life, as well as working on a short story with me "Turtles all the way down." You can find more of her work HERE

Laura Gherghel
Laura is an exceptionally talented digital artist based out of Romanian who worked with me to create Lady Maslenitsa. You can find more of her work HERE.

Quixotic Mama
More of Emje's wonderful and wild poetic creations can be found on her website. She helped me bring Fetish to life in April and I cannot wait to work on more projects with her in the future. Find her and support her on Patreon.

Thank you very much for your support and I hope that, above all, I and my co-conspirators entertain.

Past Projects and Publications:

Lady Maslenitsa:
A comic book about meeting the Slavic effigy of Spring in a bar before she must go off and be burned. Illustrated by Laura Gherghel.

The Fox and the Bear:
A twisted retelling of The Tortoise and the Hare that follows Fox and Bear as they hatch their devious plan to rig the big race before things go very very wrong. Created in the style of a children's book with beautiful illustrations by Stephanie Stickel.

DEATH at a Preschool Christmas Party: a holiday noir-thriller crime drama in five parts set in the heart of Russia. It is an absurdist magical realism murder mystery that follows our main character as he tries to maintain his sanity as a candy-doling elf under the watchful eye of the tyrannical babushka, the sexually aggressive Elsa, and the nihilistic, alcoholic, reindeer slave-driver, Santa Claus.

The King of FU: A One-hundred-and-forty-six page illustrated coming-of-age tumble down a rabbit hole of demented 90s nostalgia. Born with horns and covered in fur, our protagonist--after escaping the clutches of the umbilical cord--makes his way from childhood, through the bowels of adolescence, and into so-called "adulthood." Accompanied by gorgeous illustrations by Nikita Klimov, this book is available on Amazon in both paperback and on Kindle.

The Babushka Society: Baba Yaga menaced Russian children for generations, but what would happen if you ran into her in modern-day Russia? The Babushka Society is a demented magical-realism adventure set in the heart of Saint Petersburg, where two young men stumble across a babushka conspiracy, led by Russian fairytales’ stalwart character Baba Yaga, to take the country of Russia back from the Hipster scourge.
