Bee Gabrielis creating criticism and a cooking blog
I'm immensely appreciative. Like, choked-up-a-little appreciative.
Patrons at this level will get access to Always Bee Cooking, a Patreon-exclusive cooking blog with personal anecdotes & recipes.
Oh whoa jeez. Okay.
In addition to the rewards from the previous tier, this will basically allow you to commission me once every six months. So think of any topic you'd like to see me write 2-300 words on - a game, a movie, an album, a book, a current event, a theoretical phrase - and let me know when I message you.
About Bee Gabriel
In the last year and change, I've been juggling crawling toward transitioning (still just social so far) with losing work and barely making things work freelancing without bylines. I would like to get back to writing (and podcasting, and whatever else people would be interested in) in a more structured fashion. If you think that might be neat, I could really use your help.
If you'd like, here's a more complete list of things I've written. But I also dabble elsewhere as well. I've made (kind of a lot of) music, a handful of small games, a meme or two, and more. Creative work is important to me because I can't help but make it, but also because it seems odd to me to be a reader without also writing. And reading's what I like to do, in the broadest sense - of books and films and games and organizations and structures and the whole shitty playground of capitalism.
Concretely speaking, I'll be aiming for one new piece a month. That might be a piece of writing I put on my blog, or it might be a podcast episode - I would really like to get back to Reading Games: A Personal Critical Canon, and I have some other ideas that I'd like to start if I finish that project (or even before). At least to start, the essays will likely focus on a specific piece of media I've engaged with recently. If you want me to engage with something particular, or to try out something different, let me know - even if you aren't a patron just yet. I've been doing a lot of cooking the last year or so, maybe we could talk about that?
At this level, I'll commit to two pieces - hopefully one article and one podcast, with occasional games/music/etc substitutions - per month
