Hi, my name is Rex. You might know me from the Space City Nerd podcast/zine, or the various music projects I've done over the last decade or so (which have slowed down quite a bit but whatever, I'm still working away on that stuff too). Most likely, you don't know me at all, and that's okay too! We can be friends or whatever.

I just launched a new blog called Beyond Electric Sheep. It's kind of a continuation of the more fringe things I've worked on over the years, like glowing articles on weird videogames, and, digging deeper into obscure stuff I've worked on, the "nightmare television" stream I used to run back in the early 2010s, where I'd show old, out-of-print and hard-to-obtain anime and discuss it with people in the group chat or do really long streams of strange RPG Maker games I found or stuff like The You Testament before everyone did The You Testament. I'd like to not have to worry about things like running ads on my site or really monetizing it in inconvenient, uncomfortable ways, but I would like it to pay for itself at some point PLUS people often ask how they can help fund stuff I work on (I'm bad at merchandising) AND people don't even realize when I've done new stuff sometimes (I'm bad at self-promotion but I'm way better at it than I used to be when I was younger and had no self-confidence) so I figured opening a Patreon and using it as kind of a subscriber service sort of thing would help everybody.

I'm sure the tiers are going to be reworked at some point but for one dollar a month you'll get instant access to everything that goes on the site and probably other stuff I do too, like podcast appearances, links to zines and websites my writing is in/on (I have a lot of cool stuff hopefully coming out this year including a really big project I finished my stuff for over a year ago), music, and who knows what else. I do a LOT of stuff. Higher tiers are available for those who really want them, but I'm not going to get upset if you choose not to give me $5 a month. I'm really just flattered that you've read this far and if you choose to give anything at all I'll probably cry a little. If 12 people give a dollar a month for a whole year that covers all of my webhosting.

The money's going to all go directly back into the site, for the most part. If I get enough I'll dip into the funds for zines and stuff too; I doubt I'll ever get enough to live off doing Beyond Electric Sheep-related activites, but it'd be nice to not have to dip into personal funds to pay for hosting or pricey VHS tapes to write about and preserve or whatever. I've been leaning heavily on writing about anime lately and I get that anime's not everyone's bag but there will be way more weird videogame stuff happening again soon, as well as historical deep dives on stuff no one else would ever think of doing them on and interviews with people no one else would think of talking to and all sorts of everything. Even without your money this is going to be an exciting project, but I'll be able to do more stuff faster with it. I'll also look into Patreon-exclusive streams at some point too, like maybe we can do a movie night or something because I like those a lot.
