What are Biometrics and why should I care?

Biometric data has many shapes and forms, but one common goal; that the information extracted can be applied empirically (1) towards the pursuit of self improvement (2). This is broadly known as DIY Biology or Biohacking.

Biohacking is a growing biotechnological social movement in which individuals, communities, and small organizations, study biology and life science using the same methods as traditional research institutions.

My current pledge is to use funding to facilitate thorough and meaningful self-experiments accompanied by detailed documentary and reporting, evaluations and conclusions and, after publishing the experiment, I will open channels of communication that will allow Patrons to enjoy a one on one Q&A session with me.

I will expand here with an "About me" section soon, which will help you understand my perspective, experiences, and knowledge as well as the more philosophical of details.

1. *empirical empirical (ěm-pēr'ĭ-kəl) adj. Relying on or derived from observation or experiment. Verifiable or provable by means of observation or experiment. Of or being a philosophy of medicine emphasizing practical experience and observation over scientific theory.

2. Personal Growth encompasses activities that improve awareness and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and facilitate employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations. Biohacking is often used as an alternative or supplementary approach to modern conventional medicine in the pursuit of resolving pervasive health issues as well as attempting to improve measurable functions of cognition.

1 month duration of L-Theanine Experiment as follows:

L-Theanine is a nutritional supplement that has been studied for its potential ability to reduce mental and physical stress, improve cognition, and boost mood and cognitive performance in a synergistic manner with caffeine.

From wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theanine Effects section.

Self-Experimentation and Mental Health research:

L-Theanine may help minimise the negative side effects of stimulant medications used in the treatment of ADHD. I have access to such medication as I have been diagnosed with ADHD myself. I will explain my own research with citations of evidence and supply an anecdotal review of the efficacy of L-Theanine as an adjunct therapy.

L-Theanine could help attenuate both positive and negative symptoms of Schizophrenia. Though I'm not diagnosed, I have recently experienced an acute psychotic episode and have ever since continued to experience transient delusional thoughts and hallucinations of visual and tactile nature. I will monitor symptoms scrupulously and identify any patterns or trends that coincide with L-Theanine dosing.

I will measure, evaluate and document my own perceptions and observations daily over the 3 month period. I will take regular biometric readings, such as SpO2 and Stress (as provided by S-Health Android app.) which I will include in the report. I will also include observations and resultant research specific to ADHD and Schizophrenic symptomolgy.

I will open communication channels after the experiment is over and provide Pateons with private Q&A sessions. By participating in discussions with me, Pateons accept that I am not liable for damages that might result from actions Pateons might take after speaking with me. It is possible that I might be asked questions that require answers that might appear like "medical advice", but I am not a Medical Doctor, so any advice a Patreon infers from a discussion with me is accepted as acted upon at their own risk.

My Motive and Mission:

To help myself, my family and the entire Patreonverse with my, our and their personal growth by being a living lab-rat. Let's kick this off with supplements, which are generally easily accessible and reasonably affordable. Product testimonials are often fake or misleading or just a complete gamble. Take from it what you will - your questions are the answers.
