About Bitten By Productions

Established in 2013, Bitten By Productions is an independent Melbourne based theatre company dedicated to the development of new Australian writing. Operated by an experienced team of writers, actors, directors and designers, our aim is to provide a platform for story and character driven theatre. We provide opportunities for new writers and directors to develop their skills under the guidance of an experienced team; collectively working towards the best possible realisation of the writer’s vision.

Our credits include Springsteen, which sold out its 2017 season and was later adapted into a radio play that hit #3 on the iTunes Performing Arts charts, Dracula: Last Voyage of the Demeter, another sell out show, Heroes, which won multiple awards for best production, script and actor on the 2017 Victorian One Act Play circuit and Moonlite, the smash hit new musical that opened at the 2018 Midsumma Festival to rave reviews and a sell-out season.

Of course, running a theatre company does come with costs, from venue hire to public liability insurance and paying entry fees for festivals. Generally the profits from one production to another can cover the bulk of these things, but this tends to mean that the budgets for shows remain limited, especially as we try to always ensure that casts and crews are paid for their time and effort. Theatre is a competitive industry and limited funds means limited capability for advertising or realising a production to its best potential.

Your contributions will allow us to operate at the highest standard possible. There are a range of rewards available, from tickets to the shows of your choice to access to the rehearsal process and even producer credits. Predominantly, however, you will be helping to support independent theatre and providing opportunities to new artists, for which we can’t thank you enough.
