Fable and I (Kay) met in 2005 and began collaborating on a wolf webcomic called The Blackblood Alliance (or the BBA for short). Thanks to the encouragement from its loyal fans, the comic had a good run. But life happens, and we had to put our labor of love on hiatus.
During our time since we moved on from comic work, got "real jobs" in studios, explored other artistic avenues and developed other skills, we realized we never quite lost interest in our roots with the BBA.
Almost 10 years later,we have begun writing a new and different story with some of the characters as well as the world we established all those years ago to create a brand new version of The Blackblood Alliance.
Neither of us are employed now, and while we support ourselves by creating art for an assortment of other peoples' projects, nothing quite brings creative fulfillment to an artist like having your own pet project.
We want a revived, re-envisioned BBA to be that project for us. We figure it's a good opportunity to imbue it with the perspective we've gleaned over these past 10 years of both artistic and emotional growth.
In order for us to be able to realize these endeavors, we need to keep ourselves housed and fed. This is where your help could really come in. If you are interested in the work we are doing, any amount you could spare toward supporting it would be amazingly helpful. We intend to split everything we'd receive through Patreon 50/50.
Our artistic vision with the BBA, old and new, has always been a rich, visually appealing world crafted with every frame. We take no shortcuts in achieving this. This Patreon campaign would provide funds for us for each page we create, making the otherwise crazy amount of hours spent lovingly rendering every page totally worth it. We would also be enabled to able to carry this project further this time around.
This first pages we will be releasing are an 8 page set of a "preview" scene from the new BBA world. One of these pages will go out every two weeks. This is to show you the new art style and format of the webcomic and give you a taste of what's to come.
We hope you will enjoy the preview while we take time to prepare for the release of the beginning pages of the main story arc, scheduled for early 2015.
Because of how long we devote to the production of each page, we figure that the BBA will probably start off as a biweekly webcomic (that is, one page released every other week.) But who knows - if it gets enough support we may be able to invest enough time into it to make it weekly.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact either of us! You can find us both on Tumblr (Kay, Fable) and Deviantart (Kay, Fable).
Thank you again for taking the time to check this out, and for the continued support we have received over the years from our amazing followers.
