Hi, I'm Sebastian, but my friends call me blinry! I'm a computer scientist, artist, game designer and educator from Germany, and I make a lot of visual and interactive things.

What kind of things do you create?

First of all, I create logos for open source projects, nonprofit communities and events. Two of the better-known ones are the "voctocat" for media.ccc.de, the video archive of the Chaos Computer Club, and the hourglass logo for Stratum 0, a community-operated workspace in Braunschweig. If you know a project which could use a nice logo, let me know!

I also make a lot of nerdy art, using techniques such as pixel art, digital painting, or vector graphics: I made a pixel art poster of the Congress Center Hamburg, a nerd metal T-shirt, and I'm creating an ongoing series of nonverbal algorithm assembly instructions.

I regularly create tiny video games from scratch, including an interior design puzzle game, a sailing simulator, or a racing game inside of your body.

There are many more weird things I'm doing: I invented a new method of navigating videos, made a Twitter bot that writes fanfiction, translated short stories into constructed languages, and I'm compiling an advent calendar full of strange curiosities each year.

Finally, an important aspect of my work is to share what I've learned, and to infect others with my enthusiasm! I regularly give talks and workshops about creative and technical topics such as pixel artCSS artesoteric programming languages and game programming. I'm also moderating an online forum for Explorable Explanations, and help kids learning how to code at Jugend Hackt.

Why are you on Patreon?

I make all of my stuff available to everyone, for free, under Creative Commons and GPL licenses, and I intend to keep it that way. But… I also gotta eat. If you've enjoyed some of my work in the past, becoming my patron is an easy way for you to say "thank you", and to support similar content in the future!

With your support, I can continue doing what I do best – weird Internet things. I'd like to dedicate as much of my time to that as possible. I have tons of ideas, and I can't wait to show them to you!

So how does this Patreon thing work?

Basically, it's a way for you to throw some money at me on a monthly basis. After clicking on the orange "become a patron" button, you can freely select the amount of coins you wanna dump on me. You can also cancel your support at any time.

Even a dollar a month would go a long way! In return, I'll occasionally send you secret prototypes of projects I'm working on, and ask for your feedback! You basically get to be on my advisory board, and help me steer the direction of my work. You're my biggest supporters, after all!

I'm being charged VAT, what's up with that?

That's normal! European law requires deducting value added tax from EU-based patrons. Patreon handles that for me, to make sure I get exactly the amount of money you want to give me.

From the bottom of my heart: Thank you! <3

This is like you're buying me a fizzy, caffeinated drink each month, which are essential to fueling my creativity.

In return, I'll occasionally send you secret prototypes and ask for your feedback! This also applies to higher reward levels.

Flora Power

I'll be twice as thankful (and twice as caffeinated) if you buy me a Flora Power Mate each month! <3
Tschunk
$5 or more per month 5 patrons
This is like you're offering me a Tschunk each month, which is a cocktail made from Mate, limes, brown sugar, and rum. You're too kind!

Leave me your postal address, and I'll send you some stickers! I'll also keep sending you pretty stuff at least once a year.

Tschunk-Slush with Unicorn Sprinkles

Wow, you're serious, are you? At this reward level, you'll get:

1) Your very own, custom-designed profile image for your social media accounts.

2) A Twitter bot talking like you.

3) Stickers or other pretty stuff, at least once a year.

4) A very special place in my heart.

Goals
$36 of $50 per month
At this point, you'd be paying for my home Internet connection, which I'm using to talk to you right now! I could start to think about upgrading to a better speed, to be able to work more efficiently.
