About bluebaglife

‘I ran around picking up these little blue twisted fragments on the carpet, in his car, I’d find them in the bins and even on our front doormat. They must have started to appear when he became more careless, more poorly and unable to cover his tracks. I’d find them more frequently towards the end; they were rising to the surface, just like his addiction to heroin. He couldn’t hide it any longer, and I didn’t know what to do.’

Lisa and Elliot’s combined experiences of prison and addiction issues that are too often misrepresented, if they are spoken about at all. They have experienced addiction, trauma, mental health and prison first-hand in their own lives. Elliot was addicted to heroin and has recently been released from prison, and Lisa’s mother, who gave her up as a baby, was addicted to heroin. Both Lisa and Elliot have suffered with their mental health. As 'bluebaglife', they offer the perspectives of those inside institutions, as well as loved ones supporting from the outside, alongside all who have had addiction in their lives. They know all about the shame, stigma and fear that comes with prison and addiction. Now they are supporting the voices of others, and creating a strong motivated network in the hope of making social change.
