Minimum Wage
This is a place marker showing what my pledges would need to be, after
Patreon fees (~15%), for me to be making minimum wage doing 4 DOTU pages
per month. This does not account for self-employment tax, expenses, or
time spent on administrative tasks or Patreon rewards. Illinois
minimum wage is $8.25/hr.
One Bonus Page Per Month
At this rate, I can turn down enough lower paying freelance work to make
room for an extra page of DOTU every month, for a total of roughly 5
pages per month.
Two Bonus Pages Per Month
At this rate, I can fit in two bonus pages of DOTU per month, for a total of roughly six pages per month.
2 Pages Per Week
At this rate, I can afford to devote most of my focus to DOTU and still make enough money to cover my expenses. This would give me the opportunity to release two new pages every week, for a total of roughly 8 pages per month.

Hi, I’m Bob.
I’ve been an artist for almost my entire life, and I’m grateful that I'm now doing it for a living. I’ve worked in several different areas of art including product development, art direction, and illustration. I’m also an avid storyteller and have had various works of prose fiction published.
I’m the creator of a webcomic called Demon of the Underground.

Demon of the Underground (demonoftheunderground.com) is the story of Pogo, a big-mouthed young thief who falls through a hole and finds himself in a brutal underground world where survival is based on strength and intimidation.

Pogo is not cut out for this type of environment and quickly realizes that he’s in over his head. Fortunately, he has two things going for him: a mysterious telekinetic ability and a ferret named Annie. And while he often seems flaky, he has a knack for thinking outside the box. But will he be able to survive his time in the underground with his humanity intact?

Demon of the Underground is a paranormal/urban fantasy story with a strong focus on LGBTQ lead characters.
Demon of the Underground is free for anyone to read, and it will stay that way.
Comics bring together my two greatest loves: art and storytelling. Webcomics are especially appealing to me because I like being able to offer my creations for free to people who don’t have a lot of money for recreational purchases. The challenge, however, is making it possible for creators who offer their content for free to continue paying their bills and buying groceries.
In order to support myself financially, I work a full schedule as a freelance illustrator.
During a typical week, I’ll usually spend five solid days doing freelance work for clients. This leaves me with only two days and perhaps a few evenings to work on Demon of the Underground. Being a one-woman team, I do everything for DOTU from start to finish: story, pencils, inking, shading, website design and maintenance, social media and advertising/promotional tasks, managing mirror sites, and keeping up with readers and other webcomic creators.
I would love to have more time to do all of these things. I would especially love to speed up my release schedule, which is currently one page per week. If I could double my update schedule, I'd be able to tell the story at a much better pace. However, I can’t afford to decrease my freelance work in favor of the webcomic unless DOTU starts to bring in more money.
With the support of patrons like you, I can devote more time to Demon of the Underground.
This means:
-More frequent updates
-The addition of full color scenes
-More prints, illustrations, and extras
-More time to interact with fans
-More time to work on releasing print versions of the webcomic
I am hugely grateful for any support I get! To show my appreciation, I have tons of stuff I’d love to share with my patrons.
