Hello, I'm Bobby Thompson, and I want to thank you for checking out my work. I've been a freelance photographer and filmmaker for 19 years. Before that, I've been a lifeguard, technical rescue instructor, graphic designer, and corporate trainer. I've photographed people from Anna Kournikova to Willie Nelson, and taken on projects with national brands. As an independent filmmaker, I've had films play (and win) in festivals across the country. I was a senior programmer for a pretty major film festival for 5 years, and have been a frequent panelist at festivals nationwide. I normally attend around five festivals each year. Corporate work is often amazing, but I've found myself wanting to do more.

I watch when people are viewing my work, and by a large margin, they stop or react to work that started as a personal project. This is what I've decided to pursue - my own projects, my own stories, my own vision. This may be the golden age for creatives. It's never been easier to distribute your work and get it seen. That used to be the hard part, but the internet has made it easy. Making a living at it... well that is still hard. You have to piecemeal it together - I'm selling work in a couple of galleries, on my website, teaching an occasional workshop, guest lectures, plus still taking the occasional corporate gig. Now I'm adding Patreon.

I'm hoping this lets people enjoy my work in a more affordable way. Most of my prints in galleries average from $600-$1,200. This is a lot to lay out at once for many people. The higher levels of Patreon can serve as sort of a layaway  plan, allowing you to spread the cost out over time. The lower levels allow you to get the free e-books, and to show your support for viewing the work on social media. Plus you get to see new work first, and get access to things that will be exclusive to the Patreon feed. In the upcoming months I'm hoping to roll out several new things including printed books, and there are even rumors of a podcast...

I just want to thank you all again for all your support, and can't wait to keep creating.

If you're looking for prints, this is the tier for you. This is a great way to purchase larger size prints but spread out the cost. You still get all the lower tier items, plus every 6 months, you get to pick out a wall sized photo print. You'll have several to choose from, sizes will range from about 11x17 to 16x20, depending on the image/aspect ratio, etc... If you start to run out of wall space, remember they make great gifts. Rewards will be delivered in May and November. If you sign up within 2 months of the delivery month, you'll sill get a print, but it will be a poster print of my choice.

Backstage Pass
$50 or more per month

Here's a chance to see how it's all done. Twice a year you can spend a full day with me on one of my photo shoots. Bring your camera and shoot alongside me. While not a formal workshop, I'll give you all kinds of tips, advice, and as much insight I can. You are responsible for all transportation, lodging, and expenses, etc... If our travel/location schedules don't work out, you can choose to  instead get a large sized print (approximately  20x30) instead. Rewards will be delivered in May and November. If you sign up within 2 months of the delivery month, you'll sill get a print, but it will be a poster print of my choice.
