Who am I?
No, I'm not Jean Valjean. My name is Richie "Bog Otter" Procopio and I'm a video game journalist. Over the past several years, I've written articles, produced videos, and livestreamed for various gaming websites, such as Massively, ZAM, and Gamebreaker. My passion for video games drives me to make daily video content for YouTube and to livestream weekly on Twitch. I'm a father of two young boys, and the caretaker of a menagerie of pets, including a poodle, a cockatiel, a hamster, and a smattering of fish.
Who is your daddy and what does he do?
My father is a dentist, but that's not important right now. Oh, you were asking about me. The videos I create range from informative guides and analysis to downright silly gameplay riddled with bad jokes, awful impressions, and singing that will make your toes curl (and not in a good way). I pride myself on delivering honest opinions on the games I play with an upbeat and positive tone that has sadly become scarce on the internet.
Why Patreon?
Since video game journalism relies on ad revenue, I'm incentivized to tailor my content to maximize views. This translates into ignoring older games, scrambling to cover betas, and racing to get videos published before anyone else. (By the way, that last part never happens because of the aforementioned kids and menagerie.) Furthermore, making a living via YouTube has become increasingly challenging due to the rise of ad block use and false copyright and content ID claims.
Patreon allows my viewers to directly support my work, which in turn allows me to create content free of traffic-counting baggage. In addition, I can use Patreon as a vehicle to directly interact with my most stalwart supporters and offer some unique perks as a thank you.
So let's cut out the middle man and stop worrying about the numbers. Your support will allow me to continue pursuing my passion for creating entertaining videos and livestreams about the games I'm currently enjoying.
I thank you in advance for your support and I appreciate you stopping by!
