About

Greetings! We here at Boiling Steam (ekianjo, cow_killer, and podiki) are committed to bringing you the best news, reviews, guides, and opinions on all things Linux and Linux gaming.

Our articles require meticulous research, writing, and effort. Many hours go into the playtime of the games we review -- this includes knowing enough about the game so that we know what we're talking about, ensuring every aspect of the game is covered, adding screenshots, and generally including recorded footage of said game. The same goes with the hardware we review -- take, for example, the original PinePhone review or the Pinebook Pro.

As for news, we check to make sure that what you're reading is fact by consulting many sources for what we may be writing about. And with opinions, while we're careful of trying to bring up potentially controversial topics, there are some really interesting concepts that may allow for great discussion, questions like, "Is Proton the future of Linux gaming?" or "Are there too many Linux distributions?" or "What is the future of Steam machines or SteamOS?"

But we do more than just that. We've done podcasts in times past, such as with Timothee Besset of Valve and Edwin from Feral Interactive. We've also had Q&A sessions with various Linux developers, including Ethan Lee, author of the FNA project, and James Ramey from Codeweavers.

Therefore, we are asking you, dear reader, to support our endeavors so that we can continue to deliver the best of Linux gaming to you and to your fellow Linux nerds. With your material contributions, not only can we stay motivated to keep giving you content to read and watch, but it will help provide for us when there is a game we (or even you) want a review of but don't have a copy of.

While perks are a work-in-progress, we want to give you a little something in return. At the first tier, you'll get a weekly private link containing the best deals on games that should with Proton. At the second tier, you will get these links twice a week, and you will also receive a monthly newsletter from us, detailing our highlighted articles of the month and what we're working on for future articles. Lastly, the third tier will allow you to pitch in ideas for future articles -- note that we can't guarantee every idea will get talked about.

Here's a preview of our Proton deals list:

These are Steam keys taken from Steam itself, GMG, Gamebillet, Fanatical, etc. Each game listed also provides a link to ProtonDB reports.

Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support!
