About Brandi Nuse-Villegas

See my artist portfolio at
I am an artist based in the Central Valley of California. My  primary art form is assemblage with a focus on tactile engagement, that I call "Interactive assemblage." My work explores the nature of the connections that make up the human experience and the deep desire to restore broken connections and build connection. The invitation to touch, interact, and alter the artwork is a strong conceptual and experiential component of that exploration.
My other art forms includes installation, photography, printmaking, drawing, and painting. Recently, I have been drawn to the power of portrait as a simple conceptual expression and means for connection. My goal is to develop that work to explore and find new and significant ways to invite participants into deeper connection.
I am also on the path to pursuing my M.A. degree in art.
This page is a way to support that work and invite people into my creative journey.

More about me:
Following undergraduate studies, I  returned to my adopted hometown, Dinuba, California, because of the sense of community there and a desire to pursue the vocation of artist within the larger community of the Central Valley. The past two decades has afforded my the opportunity not only to make and show art in this context, but also to work with artists in new and developing art councils and communities, assist in the creation of art spaces, promote art making and sharing within faith communities, and teach art and creative expression in community venues.
My exploration of the role of art within the community has also included the practice of impromptu art making with the context of communal gathering and corporate expressions of worship as an element of multi-disciplinary interaction. More recently, I have been partnering with the homeless community with the creation of memorial portraits to honor those who have passed. I have also partnered with those int he music community with the creation of large tribute paintings of Tom Petty in which participants are invited to leave messages and sign and later created portraits of Tom Petty to contribute to tribute concerts. Both of these experiences have given me the opportunity to experience both communities in a profound and unique way as an artist.
I received her B.S. in Studio Art with an emphasis on Drawing and Painting at Biola University in 2000
