Hello, from Wales

per month
You are showing up for me, and I am truly, deeply thankful. Patrons at this level receive early access to my podcasts, plus special digital postcards created just for you.

Digital postcards are short takes from my life here in west Wales. You'll receive a single image and accompanying audio from my workroom, my daily life, or my travels around my beautiful adopted country. Think of it mini-podcast to keep you going between the big podcasts. A sort of audio/visual amuse-bouche.

About Brenda Dayne

If you want to help me bring authentic, thoughtful, beautifully produced podcasts into the world,  pledge £3 a month (or more!) to become a patron. Patrons receive even MORE Brenda via special audio and video patron-only content, as well as an inside view of my life behind the microphone.

My name is Brenda Dayne, and I’m a storyteller. I created a podcast called Cast On back in 2005, because I wanted to tell stories about my knitting to people who get it.

For over nine years I made podcasts for my Knitsibs, and for a lot of non-knitting people who found my podcasts fun to listen to. Probably because a good story is a good story, whether it's about knitting a sweater, or saving the world.

I loved telling stories about my knitting, and I loved hearing stories about your knitting, and your lives. Connecting with clever, funny, knowledgeable people from all over the world - in 70 different countries - was the best feeling in the world. I truly loved making Cast On.

It’s been six years since I produced my last podcast, but Cast On never really went away. It’s still here, in my heart, and in my head. Still on the needles, at the bottom of the knitting basket, just waiting for me to pick it up again. And so I have. Although the funding side needs a different approach than the Paypal tip jar I used to have on my website.

The world has changed a LOT since that last epic bind-off. Popular acceptance of Patreon as a way to support the creative work that one values, means that I now have a structured, cooperative and fun way to allow my listeners to support my work directly. A lot of listeners together, pledging just a little financial support each month, makes it possible for me to write, record and produce the podcasts that you want to hear, consistently. I need a reliable income in order to do my best work, and your contributions will provide that.

I have SUCH plans for the return of Cast On!
  • New places in Wales, and around the UK, to travel to and record from!
  • Amazing people, doing amazing things with yarn and fibre and fabric and dye, have already said yes to interviews!
  • New audio is being scheduled, recorded, and edited even as you read this!
  • Many old friends have joined me at the mic again to share their current projects!
  • And, of course, MY SWEATERS. I have a whole new drawer full of hand knits to tell you about in exhaustive and meticulous detail! (I know how you love that. I do too.)

In addition to Cast On, I am planning a new podcast, called Sleeping in Public.

The idea for this one has been on the back burner for over a decade, and I’m super excited to begin the work of telling 253 brand new stories. It’s a true Magnum Opus, and I can’t wait to get started.

Two words: more Brenda!

With your support, I can tell stories with joy and verve, just like I did in the early days of Cast On, so you’ll hear from me on a regular basis in my podcasts.

I’ve structured my support tiers so that each level brings you a little bit closer, and a little deeper into my life here in Wales via digital postcards, workroom videos, and monthly online chats with me, and occasional special guests.

Knitsib, it would be my pleasure. Remember all that fun we used to have? I’ve missed it. And I’ve really missed you. Please sign up to become a patron, and let’s do this thing, together.

Thank you!
