I aspire to be a troubadour. I write fantasy novels and short stories as well as blog about my life as a husband, father and teacher in Japan. I podcast about comic books, such as DC Comics' Starman, and also produce a horror narrative podcast about vampires in Tokyo. In between all that, I play ukulele and write little songs.

I'm not going to lie. I love creating and writing. Basically, the patrons supporting me help me justify the time and energy that goes into creating. There are so many hours in a day. And every hour I spend writing, every hour I spend working on a podcast comes at a cost of time from other projects. Having Patreon, and the kindness of patrons, let's me justify the time cost. That's right, there is a straight line from getting money to being able to create.

So, thank you patrons for supporting me and allowing me to continue my quest to become a troubadour.

Get Those PDFs!
$3 or more per month 1 patron
Starting from this tier, a pledge $3 a month, you will start gaining access to all of my published works in a pdf format.

Once that first payment clears, you'll receive a pdf copy of Deadly Troubadours. As new works are published you'll get a link for the latest pdf download until caught up with all my works. (Admittedly that is only an estimated 3 books by Dec 2017, but will be added.)

Also get the rewards from earlier tiers:
Getting thanked on a special Patron page in upcoming publications.

Getting a shout out in an upcoming podcast and access to Patron only posts!

Seasons Greetings!
$4 or more per month 1 patron
Starting at the $4 level, you get our New Year's Card! New Year's Cards's are a Japanese tradition that involves sending out postcards that reflect on the past year. For the past several years the Thomas family card has been an illustration by my very talented wife (and cover artist) Rika Thomas.

In addition, you also get the rewards from the previous tiers:

Receive a PDF per month until you have a copy of all my published work.

Get thanked on a special Patron Page in all published works starting with Sand, Sea and Stone.

Get a shout out on a podcast and access to patron only posts here on Patreon.

Mystery Gift!
$5 or more per month 5 patrons
For $5 a month I want to do something pretty cool.

As you might now, Japan has a lot of Gacha-pon machines (the egg toy machines). They have some pretty neat, nerdy stuff in those. If you pledge at this level, then twice a year I will send you a gift from one of these machines. I can't guarantee what it will be, nor can I guarantee you'll like every item. But I can say that it would be one that I would buy for myself.

In addition, you also get the rewards from the previous tiers:

The Thomas Family New Years Card!

Goals
$60 – reached! per month
If I can make $60, then that means I cross the line required by my local government for my local government to count my writing as an actual part-time job. This also means that through writing I am contributing to the earned points we need to get our 2 children (one born in 2015 (currently enrolled) and the other expected in March 2019) into daycare. Reaching this goal can really mean the difference between getting them both into the same close daycare, having them in two separate daycares, or perhaps not being able to get our second child enrolled.

The real benefit to patrons (other than the sense of pride and warmth knowing you will be helping my entire family) is that with the extra time from only having to go to one daycare instead of running all over town, is that I will have more time (and energy) to write.
