Milestone Goals
Pro-Quality plugins and software!
$100 per new finished track released.
New music creation software is being released all the time - plugins, software instruments, sample packs, etc - and they're all amazing tools for an aspiring producer of music to have in his arsenal. Most of them are under $100, but BOY do they ever add up.
Pro-quality mic for better recordings.
$200 per new finished track released.
My ultimate goal is to get to the point where I can record the bulk of my tracks at home, then send them to a mix engineer to make them sound amazing. A great mic is a huge first step.
You get to vote on a cover song I record!
$250 per new finished track released.
For helping me get this far, I'll give you a chance to vote on a song you'd like to hear me cover. It can be anything! I'll record it and post it here as one of my finished releases. If it goes well, maybe we'll make it a regular thing!
Session Musicians
$300 per new finished track released.
Sometimes I have an idea that I'm just not capable of pulling off by myself. Maybe a track really needs live drums, or upright bass, or a saxophone solo. I have dozens of talented friends around the world who I'd love to collaborate with, but they're professionals too and their time is valuable.

Getting other players to record tracks for my songs won't be cheap - I'll have to pay at LEAST $150 per song, per musician. Having the freedom to do this would make a big difference in my recordings.
Professional Mixing
$500 per new finished track released.
Even the best performances by the best musicians don't sound "finished" until they're mixed properly, and this is something I can't really do by myself. Having my recordings mixed will enable me to build a catalog of music which will eventually turn into EPs, albums and who knows what else?

About

I've been writing and recording with Enter The Haggis and Jubilee Riots for 15 years, and I've written a whole lot more music for other projects over that time. I'm excited for this opportunity to chase my inspiration in directions I haven't attempted yet, and to share more of the creative process with you!

Some of what I write will likely wind up being re-worked into Jubilee Riots songs, but I've got other ideas too - trad fiddle EPs, instrumental rock, and ALL the melodrama. It's going to be fun. :)

Greetings, potential Patrons! Thanks for taking a second to read.

Ok, here's the deal -

I'm a full-time musician and have been for 15 years. I love what I do. I listen to and write every kind of music you can imagine.

I have so many half-baked ideas, demos and flashes of wacky inspiration that I can't keep track of them all. I'd really love to finally turn some of them into real, polished recordings - but that kind of thing costs money and time. SPOILER ALERT: I don't have a ton of either.

I've always wanted to record an album of original fiddle tunes, with guest appearances by awesome trad instrumentalists and singers.

I've always wanted to really stretch out and write moody pseudo-soundtrack electronic music, but gear and software aren't cheap.

I've always wanted to write some bizarre and over-wrought theatre-pop that sounds like it should be in a horror musical and press it on vinyl for my lumbersexual friends and allies.

I also have an ever-growing list of covers I'd like to record, just because they're great songs and I'm itching to put my own twist on them.

Et freaking cetera.

Patreon gives me a means of doing all of this - really chasing inspiration - while giving you, my lovely patrons, a window into my creative process (and access to the various fruits of my labors). I'll write blog posts about the things I'm writing and the challenges I'm facing throughout the process.

I've chosen not to charge a monthly "subscription fee" - you'll only help me out when I finish something new and upload it for you to hear. I won't release anything to you until I'm sure it's something you'll find interesting and valuable - and if you think I'm phoning it in, call me on it.

Seriously.

You can access all my finished recordings for as little as a dollar per track, or help out with a little more and access other fun exclusives like personal letters, demos in progress, video rants/greetings/shout-outs, and other things I'll come up with as we go. You'll only ever pay your pledged amount when I finish a track and make it available for you to download - demos, video blogs etc. are free provided you're pledging the appropriate amount per finished song. If you're confused, shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll get you sorted out.

Whatever you decide, I humbly thank you for even reading this far - today's artists depend more and more on the direct support of their friends and fans, and I promise I'll do everything I can to make your contribution count.

Let's get writing!
