I'm an epic fantasy author, best known for the Powder Mage Trilogy and the ancillary works that I've created in that universe. As a full time writer I spend a lot of time thinking about both the art and business of being a novelist, and try to put out self-published short fiction between the deadlines for my books. The purpose of this Patreon is to allow me to work on some of the projects that I normally wouldn't have the time for. These may include more short fiction set in the Powder Mage Universe or other self-published projects, but will primarily come in the form of me pulling back the curtain on the career of a mid-list author.
Every month I'm going to put out at least one new thing on my blog for free. Some of them will be articles like this one, in which I talked about the economics of a book fair, or this one, in which I talked about the process of self-publishing a hardcover. Other months I'll put out a couple chapters of a novel or perhaps an old short story that I never published, along with annotations that talk about what made some particular piece a success or a failure.
On occasion, I will post Patreon-only content. This might be an early look at a new short story or at developmental pages for the Powder Mage RPG, or coupon codes to use in my online store.
You can pledge however much you'd like, and you'll be charged once a month. You can change the amount or stop your pledge at any time.
