Welcome to our Great Adventure!
Dear Friend,
2019 began with our family time away, doing our intentional retreat to seek the Lord for the year. Every year we spend 2-3 days removing ourselves from the patterns of the world, and just seeking God together as a family. This is a fun, enlightening, and empowering time together (sprinkled with fun, quietness, loudness, chaos and peace - we do have 8 kids :).For this particular year it also began a new journey for us as we felt God was telling us to step down as Executive Pastors of a church where we live in Nashville, TN. The difficult part of this journey for me, as a dad, is that God didn’t tell us what was next - just to step down. So as of the end of March, we will no longer be employed with the church. It has been absolutely amazing to serve at each church, yet this is a new season for our family - one of a BIG step of faith.

Ready for the wild part?
Nili and I were doing our prayer walk around our neighborhood and just felt a strong sense to dream together. While dreaming, Nili asked me “if you were able to do anything for God, what would it be?” (side note: man, I love my wife). Instantly a 20-year-old dream came back to me... I said, “I’d start that church/camp/retreat center we talked about years ago”. She smiled and said (in her prophetic, supportive and bold way), “Then let’s do it.I think it is time, Ben.”

It felt like something fell off of us, and there was a new freedom resting on us.We shifted our thinking from “what” to do next, to “where”.

Later that night, when I was doing my research online (cause I LOVE to research), I found a property that had literally come available the day before -a church offering their camp for sale. This camp/church facility has a rich history of powerful moves of God, moves of the Holy Spirit, plus… it has an incredible view of the landscape of Arkansas. Of all the places in the world that I would have picked - we know that God is sending us to Arkansas.

Who starts a multi-cultural, multi-generational church in Arkansas? I guess we do!

The camp is surrounded by about 45k people and is within 30 minutes of another mid-sized town of 60k, and 90 minutes from Little Rock, AR (pop., 400k+ MSA).The facilities have overnight accommodations for up to 45-50 people, 80-100 seating for people in the dining hall, and a covered worship center that can hold over 200 people. In addition to the buildings, it also has almost 20 acres of land.

Now, for some of us - including me - this feels like… wait, what?
Slow down - but God is not letting off the gas, and He is telling me to keep my foot off the brakes.

The Vision

The Family Camps
This is an opportunity for us to teach, host, and engage families into a God experience TOGETHER. I think families are falling apart because there is so much cultural emphasis on parents “living” out their own dreams. Everything in culture and in the church of america pushes families to separate, yet there is also a growing demand for “returning” to family in our secular American culture.

Over the past few years, Nili and I have developed and led family vision experiences; where families come together to learn how to set goals, create vision and mission statements, and write out core values for their families. We walk families through the process of strategically planning for their God-given call. For each person in the family to find the reason why God put each of them together - and to be able to understand God’s purpose with their family. We also want to engage the entrepreneurial mindset, the passion for learning about God, and releasing the gift/call on the parent’s and the children’s lives.

With this facility, we would be able to host families on-site. Teaching, coaching and releasing them into the next season, equipped to grow into their call as a family. Plus, we have a lot of fun too.

The Church
We feel like it is time for us to move from the Executive Pastor role into a lead pastor role. Our family is ready, the kids are ministry-minded (have prayed with more people to get saved than most of the staff that I have worked with in the past), and our foundation of church planting, church growing, and church culture is rich. The facilities are perfectly placed for impacting the community around it.

We feel so strongly that God is equipping us to focus on a multi-generational model (full family, passing on of the faith from older to younger). We also know that we want to equip believers to engage in the local community and their own personal community (I’m personally tired of being church-centric).

Think about it, every person in our community, every person that we meet, is made in the image of God.Which means, no matter how far they may be away from God, when we share the love of Jesus with them, their spirit’s will leap on the inside - the likeness of God coming to life. I think of when Mary (mother of Jesus) went to meet with Elizabeth and her baby leaped on the inside of here. I believe when we bring Jesus to the world there is a God-nature leap that happens on the inside of them.

We need to reach the world with this love of God! Oh man, to engage a group of people (and whole families) into falling in love with the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the love of the Father, the sacrifice of our Savior, AND to want to pass that on to others…That is who church is supposed to be.

WHY FAMILY???
I wouldn’t want to start a church or ministry that didn’t involve our family doing the ministry together. Nili and I have have been blessed with 8 children who have the heart of God, and we have been seeking God for a higher avenue to do the work of ministry “together”.

As stated above, I believe that family ministry is biblical, and I also believe it is potentially a “for such a time as this” culture-shifting movement. Studying the trends of our country and the 5 generational cycle that our culture has been through for the past 200+ years - - - the next two generations are trending into a completely different family dynamic path than their parents and grandparents. These next two generations are seeking to invest their lives into their children instead investing for their children.

I was recently reading a survey that stated the number one reason why millennial families are only attending church 1.6 times a month is because of time with their kids. After spending most of the week separated from their kids, they would rather do something with their family than to go to church and have to “go our own separate ways” in ministry.

Human Resources
Within our own family (my kids) we have a photographer/videographer, a horse trainer, a chef, a solution finding robotics pre-engineer, entertainment for days end, care and hospitality experts, as well as many other undiscovered gifts. We also own some of the farming equipment we would need as well as the personal experience in operating a small farm and facility. My personal skillsets should give us an edge with upkeep with my experience in building, maintenance, and even running camps in the past.I also have a lot of personal ministry experience, launching several campuses, growing ministries, developing healthy staff cultures, overseeing multi-million dollar budgets, and loving on people.

Financial Resources
My newly started real estate wholesaling business will provide the everyday life expenses for our family, as well as restarting my marketing business (I will need a short season to build up clientele).God told me almost 9 years ago that I would need to become financially independent and sow ministry money into ministry instead of a paycheck from the church for my family. We also have a small retirement account that I can tap into if needed for rainy day needs, as well as a few physical assets that we could sell.Additionally, we have a 3 months’ severance that will start next month. As a family we have no debt, we own all of our vehicles and equipment free and clear, and we have no mortgage.

Miracles We Are Believing for:
PRAYERS!!!

Cost of property:We have been able to secure a deal with the church that owns the campground for the price of 90,000.They were asking more, but the favor of God is already showing up for us! We feel God has challenged us to believe for the entire amount of $90,000 to come so as to pay for this and be debt free. And so far, two ministry friends of ours have already committed to blessing us with 47,000 of this in just 17 days!I am blown away.

Cost of repairs: To get the camp up and running, we estimate a cost of an additional 20,000. That can come in the next few months as we earn our living and save to invest in the property.

Cost of Improvements:First phase of improvements will cost 25,000. Those improvements include clearing of land (approximately 3 acres of land for parking and pasture), updating cabins, adding bathrooms to a few units, and creating outdoor recreation.

Home Business Success:We will obviously need to have some monthly income in order to live - so we are launching two small businesses over the next 3 months during our severance. There is a lot of hope, and a lot of education and learning that has gone into this launch.

Favor: As far as a church, we want to make an IMPACT in the region and in order to do that we need God-level favor. Since getting this Word from the Lord - there have been two encounters that have already started showing that favor, and I think you will want to hear them.

As a family, we want to be a force to make significant IMPACT to families - creating a generational, cultural change.

Our Faith:

Our faith is stirred up to have the cash to purchase the property to get this dream started.I know - Crazy right? We’ve never believed something like this for what God is leading us to do - but I know that God is a big God!Plus, it helps that our kids are crazy faith activators in our life too!

In addition, we needed to go back to our roots - believing for the crazy stuff. Believing for the supernatural, stepping out in faith, and knowing that someday there will be a story to tell our kids and to the next generation. After all, God has been so faithful to us - and we believe that He will provide our every need.

Thank you for considering our request to support us!

We appreciate you.
Ben, Nili and our 8 kiddos!
