Select a membership level
Thanks for pledging! At this tier, you'll receive our undying appreciation, an invitation to our Discord server, and the ability to post episode suggestions for us to consider!
Ah, so you felt like bumping it up a little, did you? At $5 per month, you get all the benefits listed above, as well as a one-time shout-out on the show, the next episode we record after you pledge, and access to a once-a-month blooper reel that Chris will edit together of stuff that just didn't quite fit into the show proper.
We're getting pricey in here! At this level, you'll get the Discord, the suggestion-rights, the one-time shout-out, the monthly blooper-reel, and, because we really care, we'll mail you a post-card saying thanks!
What's All This, Then?Hello! We are Backstage Gaming, a podcast from two working actors about games, storytelling, and goofing with friends.
The two of us, Dylan Gregory and Chris Wilson, met at Kenyon College, where we studied theatre and talked a LOT about games. Together, we've worked on several stage plays, as well as the audio drama The Magical History of Knox County Now we're both out in the world, auditioning, creating, and generally trying to be useful.
Out of this came Backstage Gaming, a weekly podcast in which we use the very specific set of skills we've honed as actors to dissect the games we love (and some we don't). We aren't game designers, but we are storytellers, so that's what we take on: how games tell their stories, how they engage with their audiences, and how they build the worlds and the moods that help players to get swept away.
What Are We Paying For?First and foremost, you're giving us the opportunity to work at something we love and care about. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who view paying their actors as optional, so by supporting us here, you're actively helping the two of us to fund our careers.
In the short term, the funds will go towards improving Backstage Gaming. From covering our web hosting fees to buying better recording setups and (in a dream world) being able to travel to conventions, we'll be putting your generous contributions back into our show to make it even better for you, the listeners.
Moving forward, your support will help us to explore the other creative plans swirling around in our heads. Our goal for this Patreon is to have the necessary funds to bring even more content to our community.
Join us, won't you?
