Clothing was not made to fit human beings; they were made to fit mannequins for storefront displays. This is an unfortunate reality, seeing as though the human body comes in all different shapes and sizes and very rarely can we walk into a store and find clothing that fits perfectly. So in many cases, we settle for "almost."

That's why there are seamstresses, people who know how to make clothes fit, and I am proud to call myself one of them; and even more proud to say that I am completely self-taught with an insurmountable passion for this work.

Seamstresses are typically 60+ nowadays and all on the brink of retirement. They are hard to find, few and far between. I represent new blood, new ideas and a new way of reusing while at the same time, showing you don't have to throw your money at buying new. I want to show my generation and younger that you can make do and mend.

I currently own and operate a tailoring & alterations shop in Ludlow, MA. I created the business from the ground up, on my own. The downside of this business is that during the wintertime, people are generally not thinking about getting their clothing fixed, which makes it very hard for me to make enough to live. So that's why I've chosen Patreon.

Along with this work, I have the ability to recreate anything you show me as a plush piece. All I need is a simple photograph. I feel as though this talent is unique and needs to be shared with the world. To do this, I need to make samples of my work and be able to bring them to craft events and art shows.

For the last year and a half I have poured myself into the creation of Lil' Bernie, the official doll of the Bernie Sanders campaign of 2016. This was a massive undertaking that took up the majority of my time and energy. With that, I gained national notoriety for my work and a lot of media attention. However, it did indeed snowball, and because I was doing all of the work myself, I had to abandon my shop for several months to keep up with the demand. The money I made from that project is gone, and I am now stuck with leftover orders that I cannot afford to ship out.

I'm looking for investors who believe in the concept of make do and mend, who know that handmade is better than mass produced and understand that this is an art form like no other.

Achieving this goal would take care of my rent, which is my biggest headache. It would also free up any extraneous income to ship out dolls.
