Hey! I'm thebruce0 (aka Geoff May), and you've stumbled upon a project I began in late 2017 - a theme I adopted which spawned a branded Youtube channel dedicated to the hobby of Geocaching and outdoor adventures.  I'd encourage you to visit the channel and subscribe if you feel it's worth your subscription! And if you're already a subscriber, thank you! :)

"Cache the Line" is all about setting and achieving goals and challenges in life, about persevering and never giving up. In geocaching, this for me was epitomized by a year-long daily challenge cache I set out to accomplish in 2011 (called the "Ironman Challenge") - this quickly turned into a very, very different journey for me:

Shortly after I began, my mother was diagnosed with A.L.S (the same disease from which Stephen Hawking suffers). She passed away less than a year later in March 2012, only 4 days after I completed this geocaching "Ironman Challenge". For every day that she endured through her own increasingly debillitating condition to the very end, she inspired me to the same fervent perseverance to complete my challenge, and to be able to bring those experiences to her through photos and videos in her final days. Every day I was reminded of my mother as I took photos and explored the outdoors hoping to bring another smile to her face, while she could still smile, and every day I dedicated to her. Now that same journey continues with every video I publish, for you.

In the logo is what's called a "phoon" stance, and I marked every day of that year with a phoon photo. Now, I hope to use that theme to encourage and inspire others to challenge themselves, to never give up, to look forward to the goal - not down in discouragement when things may get tough in life. The theme is dedicated to my mother, whose faith set a precedent in my life, both in my daily struggles and in my own walk of faith in God. We can never achieve perfection, but as long as we keep our eyes up and on the target, we can move forward and continue our strive to improve, to grow, and to help others along the way in their own journeys and struggles as life moves ever on.

I started this Patreon to aid in my desire to create and produce content for you. Each video takes a lot of work (and if you know me you know I'm a perfectionist!), and tools and equipment - and things cost money, go figure! And as much as I'd love to be able to do costly things for people with money solely from own pocket (and will continue to do so when it's possible), this Patreon is a hope and an opportunity to open more avenues in this creative endeavour, while also aiming to encourage and inspire others in the same way I was - to pay it forward. Any funds received through this Patreon will go exclusively to tier fulfillment and costs related to all the geocaching things created under Cache The Line.

Thank you sincerely for your patronage and support! Please take a look at the available patron tiers and gifts and consider becoming one (a patron, not a tier!) ;)

And as always, happy caching, and excellent adventuring!

Addendum:
My mother's biggest desire was to have her biography she wrote of her first child, my sister Caroline who died before I was born, published as an encouragement and testimony to parents who may struggle with raising special needs children. She never finalized it before she passed on, so I took what she had completed and did my best to polish it up and finish it for her. Now, my sister's story is paralleled with my mother's own final struggling days.
That story is freely available for anyone to read here:
Caroline's Story.
