Our warmest greetings to you and all patrons of Patreon, we are from calXarts, a soon to be one of the best children's animation studios in the Philippines, which will be made possible because of your kindness and generosity and our hard work. I am Emman Lijesta, working online as a freelance article writer, graphic artist and 2D animator focusing on children’s illustrations, and my co-founders Jennifer Pacuma, who is also an online freelance children’s illustrator, and Kristine Quimsing, who works as a virtual-assistant, management support and transcriptions. I and Jen are graduates from a government accredited school with 2D animation course, together we want to start an animation studio that is capable of producing its own original animations, which caters to young people and the young at hearts.

We were looking for supports here in our country, unfortunately, our families and friends have other financial concerns. So, we turn to you and other patrons to ask for more help. This is our first time to be on Patreon and still in the learning process. Please be patient with us.

As online freelancers, we are doing our best to work and save to finance our utmost goals. We are working fulltime with the same client, living frugally (minimalist) and trying to avoid unnecessary activities not geared towards our objectives; just to be able to save time and money; it’s been like this for the past years. Building the financial means to sustain our mission has been a bit challenging, especially here in the Philippines where salary rates are low. Also, we really maximize and watch our budget for monthly room rentals, internet fees, water and electric bills, minimizing travel and communication costs, eating fruits and vegetable for six days and on the seventh day with meat.

The picture below shows our small office during the day with current tools, as well as where we sleep, exercise, cook and eat; it comes with a bathroom/toilet and kitchen too. We have four old computers with two graphic tablets, but we are planning to upgrade the internal hardware soon to make it more fast and productive. Our wardrobe closet is small because we only want few clothes, and to have extra spaces for books and art supplies. We were able to get where we are at now because of persistence towards achieving our aims.

With you and the patron supports, we will be able to gain extra time to build our dream, and the extra means to solidify this vision.

The animation studio that we are going to build will be unique. It’s going to create originals; just like Studio Ghibli and Walt Disney, but with a different creative touch. But, before we get there, we will start small. The stages will be (1) making animated children's nursery rhymes, (2) creating short-length children's animation, (3) converting children's storybooks or comics into animated version, (5) 3D children's animation etc. As the project grows, we grow till we get to a full-pledged animation studio with at least forty creative people.

There are around fifty animation studios here in the Philippines, and considered to be at its infancy; too few studios that cannot accommodate tons of talented and creative artists in the country. Many of these artists resorted to working other jobs like factory or construction workers, store cashiers, saleslady etc; these are decent jobs, but they will be more fulfilled if they work with the jobs they love.

Right now, there’s only the three of us working together to make this dream come true.

We want to build an Animation Studio that will someday help creative people here in the Philippines bring-out the best in them. An Animation Studio that will have charitable acts or foundation catered towards educating young people to learn our talents, skills and abilities for them to acquire work related to this field.

All these things will be possible in the future, but with your help the possibilities will be even sooner. Please help us live our dreams and make our advocacy become reality. We are in this together. Thank you so much.
