Milestone Goals
3 Milestone Goals
reached
The Right Equipment
After achieving this goal, I'll be able to buy a new mouse and scanner for my laptop. Now I can produce even faster, since I'm not fingerpainting all my lineart. And faster production means more cool stuff for you to enjoy!
To the Supply Shed!
Historically, my work's been a back alley operation, achieved by hoarding lead for mechanical pencils and diving into library wastebins for scrap paper -- but with your help, I can start creating like a real man! I'll be able to afford the right pens and paper to produce even better art!
Juicing the Brick
The best stories are about Hard Work, Friends, and Dreams. Thing is, writing comics is Hard Work, my best Friend is Writer's Block, and most of my stories are still only Dreams that escape me. I hear on the winds that certain kinds of alcoholic beverage are of the advantageous variety when it comes to dispensing with the Block. By reaching this goal, I will be able to occasionally purchase these beverages to relieve myself of the burden of Writer's Block.
Studio Fees
The work I love to do is free. The world I live in isn't. With your help, I'll be able to start polishing off some of the rent I have to pay. That means there's a little less for me to worry about and that means more time for creating!
Give the Dog a Bone
It's no fun being a starving artist. If we reach this goal, I can start using the funds to help with the groceries -- dispensing with Yet Another Obligation that's keeping me from producing art.
The Games We Play
With this, I'll be able to occasionally Actually Buy a Video Game, a privilege I've not had since 2010. It'll be quite something to be able to actually play the games I create comics for.
High-End Hazard Insurance
I can buy a high-quality tablet, and start producing art entirely digitally! Cutting out the middle man!
The Fast Track to Fungicide
The strips will become an Honest-to-God part-time job! The main comic will receive two strips a week on Mondays and Thursdays.
Print Copy
I will start producing paperback collections of the strip. I will see if I can sell these for charity, or, if there's a copyright issue I can't deal with, distribution will be entirely free.
Bonus Level
So much support! In addition to the two strips a week, the main comic will get a Full-Color Bonus Sunday Strip!
Another Castle
The strip will be a full-time job! (Just Over Minimum Wage)! There will be three strips a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, plus a Full Color Bonus strip every Sunday! I will also start producing free calendars of the current comic.

Everybody likes a good story. The best ones pull us in and send us off on their adventures. All of human history is one giant story, because it's made up of people -- everyone tells stories because everyone has one to tell.
I'm a cartoonist, and what's a cartoon but a story with pictures? I love good adventures, powerful moments, and the fight worth fighting. Help me tell these stories. With your support, we can all create stories worth the telling. Today's project is Cleanup Crew, a little romp with the Brothers Mario as they throw down with their biggest mess yet: Princess Peach's castle has been swallowed up by Magic Paint!

If you like my work, you can get involved! Your sponsorship will help me ensure that I can keep focusing on producing comics and art that you enjoy. The comic I'm working on right now is Cleanup Crew, which currently updates at a rate of 1 Strip/Monday Morning, because I need something to cheer me up with the disappearance of the weekend. With enough support, I'll be able to handle my Real World obligations, allowing me to produce more of the strip!
Inspired by the Banfield model, I am providing a special offer for fellow Patreon Creators. Any Patreon Creator who pledges $2/month or more to me will receive an automatic $2/month pledge in return. Don't worry, there's no further obligation -- if I choose to fund you more than the $2 pledge you've already given me, there's absolutely no need for you to match my pledge or vice-versa.
Remember, the comics I create are 100% free for you to peruse and enjoy. I will work hard to continue to produce the strip every week, no matter whether or not you pay me anything. You can look forward to all that, plus whatever other free art I've got cooking elsewhere. There's no obligation for you to do anything at all. Simply knowing that you enjoy the strip is enough to make me grateful.
Patreon employs a simple, practically painless system. At the end of every month, Patreon will bill either your credit card or your Paypal account, and forward 95% of what you were charged. The remaining 5% is counted as the transaction fee for Stripe, which processes the charge. (i.e. If you pay me $1/month, I actually receive 95 cents).
Step 1: Make sure you (A) want to be a patron and (B) can afford to be a patron. Only do this with money you won't miss.
Nota Bene on Pledge-for-Pledge: Because the mutual $2 pledges cancel each other out, patrons who've entered into a pledge-for-pledge partnership only really spend a few cents every month.

How You Can Help
If you like my work, you can get involved! Your sponsorship will help me ensure that I can keep focusing on producing comics and art that you enjoy. With enough support, I'll be able to handle my Real World obligations, allowing me to produce more of the strip!
Your patronage will only be counted for the comic and the art I produce, it will have no effect on any other content I produce in relation to either, such as the Creator Blogs on Deviantart or the strip's main site or the Character Commentary Blog on Tumblr. By the same token, my primary efforts will be to continuing the strip proper -- if Life wants a few words with me, producing the strip gets priority over things like the blogs. If you want Life to leave me be, even a mere 50 cents would help.
Of course, I would -never- think of asking something for nothing. The comic is already free, of course, but in response to your generosity, I'll be providing weekly freebies for patrons here on Patreon in sync with the comic, including but not limited to works-in-progress, full previews of the current comic, and full-color concept art for my comics and illustrations. Occasionally I'll even throw up something extra. You can see a full list of possible rewards below.
My hope with this effort is to start being able to produce the comic full-time. As you can see, the milestone goals you'll help me meet are all about helping me produce the comic I'm working on, even just to make sure I never lose contact with the basic inspiration (you'd be surprised what happens to an artist when he goes Full Creative -- it's a dark and scary place for some of us). As we meet one milestone after another, I'll eventually be able to start producing more strips more often.

Giving Back
Inspired by the Banfield model, I am providing a special offer for fellow Patreon Creators. Any Patreon Creator who pledges $2/month or more to me will receive an automatic $2/month pledge in return. Don't worry, there's no further obligation -- if I choose to fund you more than the $2 pledge you've already given me, there's absolutely no need for you to match my pledge or vice-versa.
If you don't have a Patreon Creator's page, don't worry -- I will give you a shout-out on the strip and my personal DeviantArt account and provide a link to your blog, social media account, or website so my audience can see what you're doing.

You can look forward to all that, plus whatever other free art I've got cooking elsewhere. There's no obligation for you to do anything at all. Now, it's hard to be publicly thankful for anonymous support and you won't get any direct recognition from me for it, but know that I will be glad inside that you enjoy my work, whether or not your patronize my work. This is simply a way for you to express any gratitude that you might have, which, incidentally, will help me do my job better.
HOW IT HAPPENS
The Long and Short of It
The Long and Short of It
Patreon employs a simple, practically painless system. At the end of every month, Patreon will bill either your credit card or your Paypal account, and forward 95% of what you were charged. PATREON WALKTHROUGH
Step 1: Make sure you (A) want to be a patron and (B) can afford to be a patron. Only do this with money you won't miss.
Step 2: Decide how much you would like to give per month, and make sure you're still acting in accordance with step 1. This is your Maximum Monthly Pledge.
Step 3: Learn whether the specific patreon page charges -per month- or -per work- to determine your actual pledge.
If the page charges -per work- divide your maximum monthly pledge by the number of releases you wish to support to create your unit-pledge. At the end of the month, your unit-pledge will be multiplied by the number of actual Patreon releases and that will be your monthly bill. YOU CAN CAP YOUR MONTHLY BILL at whatever you want, to ensure you don't pay more than you're prepared to.
If the page charges -per month- (like mine, for example), you're all set!
Step 4: Enjoy your Rewards and the gratitude from the object of your patronage.
Nota Bene on Pledge-for-Pledge: Because the mutual $2 pledges cancel each other out, patrons who've entered into a pledge-for-pledge partnership only really spend a few cents every month.
