I'm Cameo, a choreographer living and working in Seattle. I dance, I teach, and I'm an avid neuroscience lover and an aspiring video editor.

As a choreographer, I create physical systems that produce specific responses from the body. Whether it's through architecture, creative limitations, or a commitment to a single movement idea, I seek to elicit emotional and physical reactions through adjustments of the body and/or the environment. With each new choreographic work, I am committed to pursuing a mental and physical rigor in order to challenge my own creative capacity and to push my curiosity to new places.

From 2010-2014, I attended Skidmore College where I graduated with majors in Dance and Neuroscience. I moved to Seattle in 2015 where I've had the privilege of sharing my work at venues like On the Boards, Velocity Dance Center, Yaw Theater, The Pocket Theater, The National Museum of Dance, Electric Lodge, and more. I've also had the great honor of performing for Alice Gosti, Kate Wallich, Hayley Shannon, Dylan Ward, Nathan Blackwell, and Coleman Pester. As a selected artist for Ellenore Scott's The Breaking Glass Project, I received additional choreographic and administrative mentorships from Sidra Bell and Nia-Amina Minor.

I am a recipient of the Margaret Paulding Award for Outstanding Performance and Choreography and SeattleDances' 2017 DanceCrush Award. I'm also a 2018-2019 James Ray resident supported by the Seattle International Dance Festival.

My collaborators and I – we dream big. The work we create together is dense, complex, and challenges the capabilities of the body and the mind. Together, we push the boundaries of our own understanding by leaning into our curiosities. And through that work, we empower ourselves to create the kind of world that we wish to see. Our processes strip down the traditional ideas of power and hierarchy within a dance process, and we create structures for accountability, honesty, and open dialogue amongst our collaborators. Currently, we are a team of powerhouse women working to empower ourselves and others through, not only our product, but our process.

These dreams require risks. We’re taking a chance on our work because we believe in the value of it to challenge established ways of thought and to open avenues for possible new futures. Our work aims to show women in a nuanced way – strong, vulnerable, complex individuals. We hope you’ll take the risk, too, and join us by supporting this work.
