WHO:
Yo! My name is Nero O'Reilly- I'm a full-time comics creator and illustration freelancer based out of scenic Seattle, Washington! I've been working in the comics industry for almost ten years, and the queer arts community for just as long. I'm also latino, trans, gay, neurodivergent, and a massive dork for anything involving animal people. (Especially roosters. Roosters rule.)
WHAT:
This patreon is mainly to support my current main webcomic project- CARNIVORE PLANET, a b&w, hard sci-fi comic about four desperate anarchists and one kidnapped prince. In addition to that, I have a large body of illustration and short comic work, all of which can be found on my website, my Tumblr, and my Weasyl! (And on my adult paysite, and in quite a few anthologies, and in games for Alpha Six Productions, and on and on and on...) My main focus with my work is to push the boundaries with queer and animal people focused comics, in both the visual sense and in the content.
I create. A lot. Here's a summary of a few things I'll be posting for patrons:
-Carnivore Planet pages to see earlier than anyone else
-'Artist editions' of said pages, at original scanned size before ANY edits are made
-Concept art for characters, environments, and scenes from the comic
-Sketches from my one billion plus sketchbooks
-Work in progress shots at every stage for the patreon's monthly wallpaper rewards, commissions, personal pieces, experiments etc!
-Monthly blog posts where patrons can comment with sketch/illustration/short comic prompts!
If the patreon gets high enough, I'll be able to start working on/posting projects such as: Carnivore Planet side stories! Animation experiments! Games!!
WHY:
Honestly, if I didn't have to pay rent each month I'd be doing all of this for free. I've never been entranced by the idea of a big bank account, or have ever had fantasies of diving into piles of gold doubloons (ow?). I don't have many bills thankfully, so living costs are low, but constantly taking on freelance work keeps me away from working on the projects I'm really passionate and excited about!
The optimistic end goal is for this patreon to fund my meager life expenses- every dollar helps!!
HOW:
Patreon makes goals really achievable for us creators- the way I treat it is similar to a monthly subscription service, in the vein of Netflix or those mailed out boxes with all the awesome little snacks. Pick a patron level, get access to all the fun bits and bobs, and be billed once a month! It's that easy!!
