About Casa Coatl Autonomous Community Center

Located at 2515 E. Cesar E Chavez Ave, Casa C.O.A.T.L (Centro. Organizativo.Anarquista.Tierra.Libertad) is an autonomous community center and brave space in the heart of Boyle Heights, Califas, operated and sustained by womin and femmes of color. Formerly known as La Conxa,  Casa C.O.A.T.L has hosted various autonomous community-based collectives, instructional classes, events, programs and workshops that aim to address the deep-rooted social-justice issues faced by working class folks of color in so called Los Angeles and all throughout Turtle Islands.

Current monthly resources that the community can utilize out of this space include: free WIFi, a free legal aid clinic, a holistic clinic, screen-printing workshops and supplies/equipment, an autonomous bike share program, film, audio and media equipment , monthly bike rides, political-education classes, and more. For the past five years the space has been sustained through community donations, fundraisers, the selling of handmade items, and food drives--refusing to accept any government (federal, state and/or local) or corporate funds. All of us volunteer our spare time to sustain the space and we are not interested in making a “career” or building social clout off this work. 100% of the funds go directly back to the space. For as little at $1/month you can become a Patreon.

We are asking the Los Angeles community and like-minded beings around the globe to consider becoming monthly Patreon donors in order to help keep Casa C.O.A.T.L operating. Your monthly donations will ensure that we continue to provide an autonomous zone that is easily accessible for women/femmes/gender non conforming peoples to keep sharing and developing skills.

Retaining autonomy is very important for the dignity, liberty, and justice of the community.  Casa C.O.ATL is a brave space where folks can hopefully locate and develop community, connectivity, accountability, and collective care for one another. We are autonomous, non-hierarchal, decentralized, and ungovernable 🖤 At Casa C.O.A.T.L we will continue to unlearn and shed layers upon layers of internalized oppression while always agitating against the state the police and the systems that legitimize and uphold their colonial power and control over our communities. At Casa C.O.A.T.L we center the community and fight for the land.  We are accountable to the land and to our community today and always.  We believe in our communities full capacity to self determine what is best for them.
