Why Games?

I started down the roleplaying path when my mom decided to be the dungeon master for a family campaign of Hero Quest. Tabletop games developed into an important way for my family, friends, and coworkers to grow closer together. This beginning remains the foundation for my interest in games: games can bring people together.

For my own designs, I like to start with an emotion, then find a way to take apart game mechanics so they recreate it. Content ranges from sad to angry to silly to epic to joyful.

My goal is to create experience that bring people together to tell the stories important to them.

Who am I?

Hi! I'm Cass. I'm primarily a TTRPG designer and artist online, and work with trauma psychology IRL. I'm very much an animal person, a nachos lover, and someone who talks a lot when excited. I'm the master of tangents that relate back to the main topic (eventually). I'm Cherokee and nonbinary and both of those aspects influence how I see the world and games. My pronouns are she/they.

Why a Patreon?

I love game design but making games requires software and tools that cost money. This Patreon is primarily to support my annual behind-the-scenes expenses.

That said, if you can't afford to financially support I understand! You can follow this Patreon to see the public updates, follow my twitter account for updates an animal retweets, check out itch.io page to see my released games, or explore my design webpage where I blog periodically about topics related to game and track in-progress games.

Why these goals?

The first goal allows me to make monthly games in a sustainable way. This means I can make income from game releases and freelance work, rather than using those to afford my basic design costs.

The second goal allows me to hire an awesome layout artist for the monthly games. This frees up time from my pipeline, so I can spend more time on art, refining mechanics, and editing. It also lets me employ an awesome freelance artist that will significantly improve the quality of my monthly games.

The third goal allows me to hire a professional copy editor. I joke about it, but my games often have typos because my dyslexia makes it hard to read correctly and notice those things. Editing takes a significant amount of time and mental energy. This goal allows me to produce a professional level product every month.

If the third goal is met, I will use that time to insure each month's game is in a release-worthy state. I will also commit to at least 1 post a week about design, psychology and games, or the wider tabletop space.

I can hire Dee Pennyway to create professional Master Pages for the layout of monthly games. With Dee starting the layout, I can spend the extra time refining the games and playtesting before release.
