Hello! We're Casual Violence! We're creating a cavalcade of grotesque, cartoonish and tragic characters for YouTube and podcasts! If that's your sort of thing, we'd like you to put your money where your (laughing) mouth is.

We've been making comedy together since 2009. Our stuff is written by our founder and creative lead, James Hamilton, because he hogs the only pen we own*. He's now a writer for shows including The Amazing World of Gumball, Unikitty, Bravest Warriors and Space Chickens In Space. A myriad of talented actors kindly lend their silliest faces and voices to the things we make: just like the Animorphs, we started as a small group and have since expanded into a bit of an army (spoiler alert for the Animorphs series of books).

Our core group - Luke Booys, David Arrondelle, Alex Whyman, Greg Cranness and the aforementioned James -  used to be a stage act, making elaborate, story-driven sketch shows to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe and across the UK. We did quite well! We got a lot of good reviews, we won three awards - one in 2011, one in 2014, one in 2016 - and have been nominated for a bunch more, including twice for the Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality.

Since 2012, we've also made a whole bunch of short films and sketches with our supremely talented and hardworking filmmaking partner James Roberts - who, upon seeing us perform live in 2011, thought we'd be nationally successful in no time. (Turns out he was right, but only if you mean something else by "no time"). In 2016, we also made a seven episode podcast sitcom series, Hector Vs The Future, with co-writer James Huntrods and producer Andy Goddard (of Wooden Overcoats).

The more films and podcasts we've made, the more we've realised we prefer the immediacy, the creative flexibility, and the reach we can have with online comedy - so we've decided on a change of approach. We'll still be performing live every now and then, but instead of being a live act who occasionally makes films and podcasts, we're now officially an online act who occasionally performs live.

This means we're making and releasing new sketches every month, and have done since April 2018.

This means we're developing a brand new podcast sitcom series.

Our sketches and podcasts will be available to everyone, for free.

But these things cost a lot of money. We need to pay our crew and our additional performers and creatives, or at least buy their lunch. We need to buy weird, arcane props for three second sight gags. We need to make sure we can afford to take a bit more time off our regular work to dedicate to writing and editing and shooting these things.

So we've launched this Patreon.

If you like what we do, please support independent comedy (specifically our independent comedy) and become a patron of Casual Violence.

In return, we'll give you cool things (see the list over there).

Love,

Casual Violence & Associates
