About Caroline

If you've reached this page it's likely you are already a supporter of my work in some form, so thank you, I really appreciate your support!

Patreon provides a way to become an official patron to support the work I do independently as an Artist Teacher.  Some of the you have recently asked whether you can help contribute towards my materials costs or independent studio development time and I am extremely grateful for this.  Through Patreon you can choose a monthly contribution that suits your budget.  I am also usually happy to offer interest-free payment plans for studio sales or commissions and private courses - my Patreon page provides a more formal way to spread the cost.

Patrons are the first to know about new projects, art works, sales and exhibitions.  I will post news on this page whenever there is an update and am planning to try out informal studio livestreams as a way to connect my supporters with what I'm working on in the studio.

For students interested in art classes, I will also automatically offer all my patrons free and open access to any classes that I'm teaching privately, so if you're signing up for one of my independent online classes in July/August then a subscription through this page offers a way to spread the cost over several months - simply consider the equivalent cost for the number of private classes you plan to attend and then choose a monthly payment amount to suit your budget (you can then alter or cancel this at any time).

For collectors interested in buying or commissioning an art work direct from my studio, monthly subscriptions can be used to spread the cost over up to 12 monthly payments - if you would like to discuss your ideas for commissioning a bespoke piece, to request indicative commission/sale prices, or if you are interested in agreeing a payment plan to buy a specific art work, please get in touch.

My studio practice is inspired by the meditative and restorative potential of time spent being in nature. Combining traditional and experimental drawing, painting and printmaking processes, my black and white responses to places, moments and memories are developed in series or as installations, representing the way I experience the sea and landscape - not just looking at it, but moving through it, being in it.

If you're interested in finding out more about my recent work the short 'Isle Create' video on this page was filmed in my studio and in my 2019 solo exhibition BEARINGS at Quay Arts. The work for BEARINGS was inspired by a series of journeys I made on foot to the sea and back, in each compass direction, from my studio in the centre of the Island.

My wider work balances art and education. Based from my studio on the Isle of Wight I develop black-and-white paintings of landscapes, trees, skies and seascapes. I also teach art part-time for organisations in London and on the Isle of Wight and as a self-employed Artist Teacher. 2020 has brought a shift with most of my teaching moving to an online livestream format and with a reduction in outreach opportunities I have set up more private classes. With reduced opportunities for gallery exhibitions and sales, there has been a shift towards selling more of my work direct from the studio and I am working out new ways of communicating about my work to suit this format. Although the lack of face-to-face meetings obviously has some limitations, the new online ways of working bring new opportunities to reach friends, students, collectors and other supporters further afield and provide safe, positive opportunities for people to enjoy art in their own homes, whether developing their own work as students in my online livestream classes or for collectors buying artwork direct from my studio.
