About Louise King { Cello Dreaming }

Welcome to my Patreon page. I'm Louise King, Artistic Director of http://www.cellodreaming.com.au and I am a recording, concert and teaching artist living in Eudlo, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

Would you like to join my Patreon community?
My mission is to bring the beauty and diversity of music written for cello, to your ears and if you are a student of the cello (and aren’t we always!), to your mind and body too through my education resources. Your support will help me produce new music, album releases, videos, online and in person events, sheet music and education resources.

Why build a community?
Community is important to me and I love producing events and education programs that inspire, and deepen the creative process. I want to open up what music can do for people, share culture, stories and inspire you to be creative too.  I would love to hear your feedback and ideas on what you want to see and hear.

I want to build a community around my creative practice which is not just local but global (I know you are there!) while having fun getting to know you as I experiment with new ideas.

Why do I need you?
Your support and comments motivate me to keep creating work.  Your subscription supports me as an independent artist to create content that you want to see, hear, and experience. Cash flow is going to be critical to my success. 2020 has forced so much change for all of us. The arts industry were the first ones out and will be the last ones back in. I am determined to see a phoenix rise from the ashes of this pandemic and produce creative content that you, my audience and student community, want to listen to and actually watch!

What am I creating?
I want to create monthly digital downloads of music, record and produce albums,  shoot videos and tutorials and write educational resources exploring how to approach, learn and teach for cellists now and in the future.

What is my work like?
You may know my creative practice already and have an understanding of my portfolio as an independent artist and producer. But if you don’t, I am going to give you a quick snapshot.

My work ranges from solo and chamber music projects in the Western Art music tradition to improvising, creating, commissioning and recording new original music. An important thread is collaboration and I perform as a guest artist in festivals, concert series, and tour and record. I love collaborating on interdisciplinary works and have worked on performance projects with First Nations artists, circus, dance, videography, with painters and potters.

At the heart of my creative practice is solo work: discovering, commissioning, learning, recording and performing original music - other composer’s collections and also developing my own music. I improvise, loop, layer and want to record this new body of work.

I would love your support. Check out my awesome rewards to help me keep creating.

Love Lulu xoxo

Acknowledgment of Country
Cello Dreaming respectfully acknowledges the traditional Country of the Kabi Kabi and the Jinibara Peoples of the coastal plains and hinterlands of the Sunshine Coast. I recognise that these have always been places of cultural, spiritual, social and economic significance.
I wish to pay respect to their Elders – past, present and emerging and acknowledge the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within our creative community. I acknowledge their living culture and their unique role in the life of this region.
I commit to building a brighter future together through deepening our understanding of cultural heritage through artistic exploration and collaboration on Australia's journey toward reconciliation. Indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded.
