The ultimate goal of any artist: to be able to support their family by doing art. If this goal is ever met, I will be able to focus entirely on doing freelance and contract work as an artist.

Hello, Patrons & Potential Patrons! I'm Lindsay Ishihiro, a.k.a. chaoslindsay, and I draw stuff. What kind of stuff? Well, the webcomic How Baby, for one, as well as a ton of original and fan illustrations. With your support, I can continue to make those things.
Who are you?
I'm a freelance illustrator and mother from Vancouver, BC. I graduated from Simon Fraser University and also studied at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. I used to be an executive assistant, and now I trade art for dollars.
Other than drawing, I'm a nerd for tabletop gaming, cooking, geography, art books, and da internets. I like tigers the way that Kristen Bell likes sloths. I take time from my busy schedule of sleeping, working, and wiping noses to occasionally smash the patriarchy.
What kind of things do you make?
I create How Baby, a slice of life comic about motherhood influenced by the fact that I'm a nerd, a gamer, a feminist, an artist, and a child of the internet age.
I also do a ton of standalone illustrations, both fan art and original. You can check those out on my Tumblr. My motive for most of my illustration is to create more queer, feminist, body-positive, sex-positive art and generally increase representation for otherwise underrepresented groups in art, like gender and sexual minorities, non-white characters, disabled characters, and unconventional relationships or stories.

Why should I support you?
Because you're kind!
Because you believe that tipping creators for the work they do is an important part of the creative ecosystem!
Because supporting me specifically will help... well, you know, roof over head, food on table, diapers on kid!
Because you like what I do and want to see more of it!
Because you like How Baby, and want to be a part of it!
Because you want to support an artist who's working to increase the amount of queer-friendly, sex-positive, inclusive art in the world!

How many pictures do you do a month?
How Baby updates weekly -- Sundays for patrons, Mondays for everyone else. I average two to four additional pictures a month -- some fanart, some original.
Patreon allows you to cap your donations after a certain amount, so you'll be sure to never go over your budget.
What other things have you worked on?
I illustrate regularly for a bimonthly gay zine, Shousetsu Bang*Bang, which you can read for free. I also turned three of those stories into a (sold-out!) anthology of illustrated fiction, Of a Kind.
I worked on a Kickstarter reward for The Switch, a fantastical television show on OutTV that does the revolutionary work of actually casting transgender actors for transgender characters.
I've done adwork for The Daily Dot, a source for internet and fandom news. I've also done art for the StreamBros channel on Twitch. I did the album art for The Doubleclicks' album, President Snakes.
Upcoming, I'll be in the Amplify Her comic anthology, as well as an anthology of Pacific Northwest horror comics called Bones of the Coast, both coming out in the spring of 2016.

Who gives a damn?
I've been interviewed for The Huffington Post, Hypable, and BabyCentre!
My work has been in two galleries: Hot Art Wet City (CARDED!) and the Surrey Art Gallery (Mirror Mirror).
But what I really want to do is direct.
Tell me something I don't know.
You're a good person with a great capacity for passion and kindness, but society has taught you to hide those qualities behind a hard exterior because you're afraid of being hurt for the things you love.
Let me love you back, potential Patron. Let me love you as hard or as soft as you need. Let me in to your heart.
