Milestone Goals
Mobile Markets
Daily, our Director of In Kind Donations
speaks with farmers, wholesalers, distributors and store owners to
acquire donated goods. These come mostly in the form of vegetables,
fruits, and dairy products as well as some clothing and shoes.
The food products are brought to our warehouses, divided up and put onto our trucks. Every week, five trucks laden with 300 tons of food leave our warehouses for distribution to 6,000 families a month.
These trucks travel twice a month to 40 distribution points in 20
cities throughout Israel. The produce is set up neatly, ‘open market’
style.
Families come and ‘shop’ for what they need. The ability to inspect
and choose the items they want provides the sense of empowerment and
entitlement so vital to a healthy outlook.
By providing the same items that the families would normally choose
to purchase, they are able to maintain the same lifestyle and culture
they have always known. They can stay themselves even through this
difficult time.
Widows & Orphans Fund
Everyone who comes to us is in emotional pain. They are in need, they
are in crisis and we are their last hope. We respond to each call in
three ways. The first step is to listen. Usually those who call us have
exhausted every avenue, we are their last hope. When we listen to
them, when we hear their pain and needs, this is the first way we give.
We let them know they are not alone with their burdens.
Immediately upon hearing their needs, we give them what we can, an
initial assistance. This is usually food, school supplies and/or
clothing. Once they are calmed by knowing that they have assistance, we
then ask them to fill out forms and deal with the ‘red tape’ that is
necessary for proper and complete assistance.
In all that we do, in all of our various programs, nothing is as precious and close to Chasdei Naomi’s collective heart than widows and orphans, those who have suffered a devastating loss and who now find themselves in financial straits. We see each widow and orphan as ours to support and protect- from infant formula to her wedding day.
Each single parent receives 200NIS a month per child for expenses not covered by our food and other programs, up to 18 years of age. Often we attend their life cycle events as they are now our family and more often than not, we assist in the expenses as well. Currently, we support 360 orphans under the age of 18.

Food Baskets
Basic needs are more than helping people survive. Children without
lunch or books tend to skip class, often acting out so that attention is
paid to their behavior and not their lack of food and supplies. This of
course begins a quickly deteriorating situation of kids missing class
and misbehaving, leading to poor performance, non-advancement, and
ultimately, failure. This greatly reduces their chances at creating a
better future for themselves and their own children.
Our food baskets are available at all mobile markets ready to be taken off the shelves just like any other grocery store. They are packed with the dry goods and staples families need such as sugar, pasta, coffee, canned vegetables, oil, flour, including formula and cereal for 500 babies.
These food baskets are a lifeline to our families. They meet their physical needs by providing the nourishment essential to life and well-being, but moreover they give our families ‘normalcy’ and enable them to retain their dignity. Dignity is a vital ingredient in any attempt at financial and social improvement and one that we see first hand often is the difference between recovery, or continued reliance on aid.

Weddings for Orphans
The
pride and joy of founder Yosef Cohen is Armonot Chen, the deluxe
wedding complex created for the express purposes of giving orphans a
wedding day to cherish. The five halls are of the highest standard and
are rented out nightly for a total of 80 weddings a month!
Proceeds from these affairs go to support our free weddings for orphans program. Depending on the circumstances of the bride and groom the wedding costs are covered to various extents. This often includes a dress for the bride, a suit for the groom, all costs of the hall and in certain cases, catering as well.
It is within this program that we see the greatest miracles!

Chasdei
Naomi began almost 30 years ago with one bus full of Jewish children.
When the driver noticed that some children came regularly without
supplies, food, proper clothing and smiles, he began delivering food and
other necessities anonymously to those families.Witnessing first hand the difference his packages made, his work expanded, people joined him and Chasdei Naomi was born.
Today Chasdei Naomi works with
corporations and service providers as well as a network of 20,000
dedicated volunteers to provide food and other basic needs for 10,000
families throughout Israel.“We are one family. That is how we see them and so, that is how they feel.”Close
