We did it! We've reached our minimum monthly funding goal. chinaSMACK can continue operating without having to make compromises to advertisers! All third-party contextual and geo-targeted advertising is eliminated from the website, allowing us to get started on a brand new redesigned website. Thank you all so much for your support. This is the goal we want to reach for. It's above what we minimally need to remove ads, but with the help of our fans, this is something we want to aim for. At this level of monthly funding, subtracted by Patreon fees and our basic expenses, we should have enough to significantly expand our coverage and translations of the many things serious and silly that trend on the Chinese internet each day. We'll also add articles and videos explaining notable Chinese internet memes and trends, pointing out interesting insights readers might not notice through our usual translations.
Anything above this will of course allow us to do more, as well as add additional concrete goals for our community and patrons to consider. Without a doubt, we will be utterly humbled by our fans patronage. Thank you for making chinaSMACK what it is.

We translate trending Chinese internet content and culture into English.
Our founder is a (reasonably) young Chinese girl and our ragtag band of contributors now includes both Chinese as well as non-Chinese individuals inside and outside of China around the world.
As fellow "netizens", we have a passion for sharing a bit of China's vibrant internet culture with the rest of the world, through translation of what Chinese internet users are paying attention to and talking about.

To show the world who is responsible for keeping chinaSMACK alive and independent, we're going to put the names of all our patrons on a public "Patron Wall" on chinaSMACK. Names will be displayed in the order they became a patron, so earlier patrons will appear first before later patrons. You also of course have the option of remaining anonymous, using a business name, or using an acceptable pseudonym/nickname, but we want to make sure we give credit where it is due.
