About Christophe Galati

Bonsoir! I'm Christophe Galati, a 25 years old french indie game developer, nice to meet you. I started to make games and Pixel Art when I was 12 using RPG Maker, then studied Game Design & Programming, learned how to use Unity which I kept using while working in the industry.

1. Creative Process

When designing a game, my goal is to build a sense of great adventure with a JRPG spirit, an inclusive cast of characters, explore dark themes with a cute aesthetic, while paying homage to japanese games which inspired me growing up. I'm kind of in travel through gaming history.

Between 2014 and 2018 I created Save me Mr Tako, a platformer RPG made as a tribute to the original Game Boy where you play as an Octopus in a world torn by the war between Humans and Octopuses. The game was published on Nintendo Switch and Steam:

2. Current Projects

I created Tako mostly in my free time while having a full-time job during the day. Due to this experience, I aspire to be able to work on my projects in better conditions, and in the end create my own company, Deneos Production. I wish my studio will have the same aura as studio Quintet had someday.

In that reguard in January 2019 I entered Villa Kujoyama, an artist residency program in Kyoto, where I spent 5 months and started my new project. The game, currently called Himitsu Project, is an Action RPG paying homage to the Game Boy Advance era, and will talk about the theme of secrets. I continue to work on the prototype and writing since I returned.

3. Why Patreon

I opened this Patreon in order to get funds to stay indie as much as possible, as a support to keep creating games full time. The money will be invested in the game development, to attend game festivals to showcase. The goal is also to build a community arround the project on Discord, where I'll share work in progress and sneak peaks more often and before social media, and use this page as a blog to share updates. I see it as a valuable resource to get feedbacks along the way and make the project better.

Note: If one day I have to pause my activity as an indie, take a full time job or get enough fundings to develop the game properly, I'll stop this patreon. This page and discord won't close, the patreons will still get their tier reward if the game project come to life.
