Hello! My name is Chris Laplante.

Tempur-Pedic project

Recently I've received an outpouring of interest in my Tempur-Pedic Bed Project (https://blog.laplante.io/2019/01/reverse-engineering-the-tempur-pedic-adjustable-base-remote-control/) that I started two years ago and that subsequently stalled. The interest has reinvigorated me and I'm ready and excited to continue with the project. 

To help me do so, I have created this Patreon for two reasons:
  1. Community feedback - I want to hear from the people that are interested in this project. What features and functionality matter to you? How would you expect the system to work?
  2. Financial support - DIY project costs add up very quickly, so every little bit helps!

Raspberry Pi telephoto lens stepper motor project 

I'm also excited to continue working on my Raspberry Pi High Quality camera project: https://blog.laplante.io/2021/02/stepper-motor-controlled-zoom-and-focus-of-the-raspberry-pi-high-quality-camera-telephoto-lens/. This project will enable stepper motor control of the zoom and focus rings. 

I intend to work on the two projects (Tempur-Pedic and telephoto lens control) simultaneously, with a bit more effort going to the former project because it is older.

A little about me

For the past 5+ years my day job has been a software engineer working on embedded systems with a focus on Linux and Yocto. But I've been working on and blogging about software and electronics for over 10 years.
