Hello, I'm CJ, a journalist, published author, political commentator, and activist who has dedicated his journalism career to exposing discrimination and injustices against Muslim communities throughout the world. Insights the mainstream media too often ignores.

From Palestine to Kashmir; from Burma to Syria; from India to China; from refugee camps in Europe to those in the South Pacific; Muslims are either occupied, oppressed, bombed, or vilified.

That said, a number of news outlets have credited me with being one of the first international journalists to expose details of China's persecution of Uyghur Muslims in Xinjiang; and one of the first to bring global attention to Myanmar's renewed ethnic cleansing campaign against Rohingya Muslims in 2016.

Having published more than 400 articles for various international news publications, and produced more than 100 podcast episodes, I have done my best to shine a light where there was previously none - in raising awareness for persecuted and repressed Muslims in Kashmir, India, Syria, Palestine, and throughout the Western world.

I have published stories on aid workers trapped in the Syrian conflict; tortured Guantanamo Bay detainees; civilians who have been targeted by Israeli settlers and occupation forces; survivors of Hindutva terrorism; anti-Muslim discourse in the mainstream media; former and current jihadists; those falsely accused of terrorism; and more.

I have shared my stories and investigations with an array of international cable news programs, including CNN International, BBC News, Sky Channel, TRT World, Al Jazeera, Indus News, and others.

As has become the norm, however, crimes and injustices carried out against Muslims are too often overlooked by the Western media, whereas crimes carried out by Muslims are exaggerated and over-represented in the media by 449% (LexusNexus Academic, 2017).

Wherever you look, the mainstream Western media sympathies with those who oppress Muslim majority nation states and communities. These sympathies provide the political cover for anti-Muslim discrimination and injustice. For instance, the media's sympathetic stance towards Israel's brutal military occupation and apartheid provides the political space for the US to continue underwriting Israel's international law and human rights violations; political cover for India's violence against Muslims in Kashmir; while anti-Muslim tropes and stereotypes disseminated unchallenged into the media serve to only encourage hate crimes and discriminatory government policy against Muslims in the West.

It's journalism's responsibility to reveal these injustices. Sadly, criticism of Israeli policy and advocacy for Muslim civil rights has long been considered a career killer in the US, and thus far too many journalists choose to turn a blind eye to these injustices in order to maintain their access and profile.

I, however, refuse to trade justice for career advancement.

But activist journalism requires funding, especially in a democratized, free media environment, thus I seek your assistance to help me travel further, investigate deeper, and expose injustices carried out against Muslims. Doing so will help me reveal to US and global audiences who it is that's really the aggressor, and who it is that's actually the victim.

Only then will US political leaders lose the political cover for supporting Israeli apartheid and occupation, the self-defeating "war no terrorism," and domestic policies that strip away the civil rights and dignity of Muslim citizens.

Furthermore, I am currently engaged in academic studies into terrorism and counter-terrorism - aiming to complete a Masters degree and then doctorate.

Given that four million Muslims have been killed in US led wars since 1990, my academic work aims towards helping to bring an end to what promises to be an inter-generational transnational catastrophe.

What Now

Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us take the fight to those who profit from institutionalized injustice and oppression. For as little as $1 per month, you can help me reveal to US and Western audiences the level of violence that is carried out in their name in Muslim lands.
