About

We would like to offer the opportunity for you, our audience, to join the classical music community we have established in Faversham, Kent, UK over the last few years.

Classical Coffee Concerts was initially set up for music college students playing in The Faversham Assembly Rooms every Saturday morning for a 45 minute recital. Now many have graduated and are touring the world as professional musicians but continue to return to Faversham to enjoy the appreciative and enthusiastic audience, that grew quickly in numbers to around  80-100 each week  … it is quite unique!  It is a successful community project and we have a pool af so many talented musicians and a wonderful audience.

When Covid hit and the venue closed we had the rest of our season booked in for our musicians. We crowdfunded really successfully through wonderful support and we were able to keep our concerts going on line by streaming the concerts onto our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel. Facebook.com/classicalcoffeeconcerts, YouTube.com/classicalcoffeeconcerts

This was invaluable for our musicians where almost all of their work was being cancelled and for those of our audience who could get online, to hear a wonderful performance and have live chats with us and the musicians. We would like to continue to grow our online presence and have enjoyed interviewing our performers so that you can hear their inside story.

When August 2020 and our new season started, with restrictions lifted we managed to restart our live concerts, with all the risk assessments and TEN’s in place, performing under The Guildhall in Faversham, a magical space.  These were really successful and invaluable to reconnect with some of our audience and for the town to come alive a little at a really quiet time in the week. We would love to continue this project next Summer also.

As we move through into Autumn and Winter we are desperately trying to plan ahead for both our local audience and musicians. The impact on mental health at this time is huge for everyone and the music really provides a space for connecting, and mental well being.

We have The Alexander Centre in Faversham booked for 3 Sundays to take us to the end of October and then we hope to be able to go back into The Assembly Rooms from November as a regular Saturday Morning. The costs of this are daunting as our audience will reduce to 30 with social distancing.

Our crowdfunding pot will run out at the end of October and we are looking at how we can continue to fund Classical Coffee Concerts, as an online presence as well as live concerts for as long as they are able to continue with the ever changing landscape.

Please join our musical community  for £3 per month +vat to help keep Classical Coffee Concerts alive, where you can also join us online to enjoy both our concerts and our interviews with our musicians.

Thank you x
