About

CIVIL is a documentary film about the making of America through the eyes of the young.

CIVIL features stories and events found in young peoples diaries and letters, stories passed down from generation to generation. The story starts with the Iroquois Nation’s influence on the writing of the United States constitution, travels along the Trail of Tears and tells what it was like to live through the Jim Crow era, the Great Depression and the rise of Hitler.

These historical layers lead to the success of the Civil Rights Movement and the making of America that we know today. CIVIL shows how we gain or lose freedom, what democracy is and why it matters.

When I reach the first $5,000 for 4 months, I will be able to interview the Cherokee Nation, the Chief of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation, secure photos from their archives and set up summer interviews with Executive Director of the Black History Museum.
