We (the editorial team at Climate Home News) joined Patreon because we wanted an easier way to reach out to you, our loyal readers. We want to give you a chance to help sustain the journalism you've come to know and rely on – and to be a part of our growth and efforts to experiment and improve.

We want this community to build and help give us new direction. So expect us to be asking for your input.

Become a CHN patron and support independent journalism!

More than five years into its life on the climate beat, CHN's annual readership is now in the millions. We have deep sources in UN climate delegations and government ministries and send an international team to UN climate talks. But we get outside the bubble, too, producing on-the-ground reporting from vulnerable regions already bearing the brunt of the effects of climate change.

To make CHN more sustainable, we're reaching out to the people who value it most. We're bursting with many ideas about CHN's future. Right now, our eyes are on Bolsonaro's election win in Brazil. As the only international news site with a correspondent living in the heart of the Amazon, we know we need to keep reporting this story – and with your help we can do it.

With enough support we could also:

-Give our website a fresh coat of cyber-paint.
-Commission more field reporting, like Megan's reporting on climate migrants living at the edge of rising waters in Bangladesh, Arthur's story raising the alarm about deforestation in Estonia's ancient woodlands, and Fabiano's travels up the Amazon river with indigenous villagers on a mission to reclaim their land from gold miners.
-Provide more opportunities for community events and engagement.
-Fulfil some of our loftier investigative ambitions– for example, to carry out more resource-heavy projects like our Reclaiming Coal investigation, which involved months of data collection and analysis, interviews, and multimedia production.

We're so grateful for any monthly contribution you feel you can give. We want to ensure that your support goes where you intended - to help us do more reporting. But that doesn't mean membership is without advantages. We want this page to be a place where our patrons can give us feedback, debate our stories and help us to shape our reporting.

Looking forward to you joining the conversation.
