Being an artist is a very vulnerable situation. Putting oneself out into the online environment as an artist, even more vulnerable. Putting oneself online as an artist, then asking for money...? Well, it's lucky someone pushed me to do this...

I'm asking for patronage as I have a young family to support and am a full time student of osteopathy which may seem contradictory to art practice but in fact the two are very closely aligned, being very experiential, tactile and I find possess a similar healing power and potential. Balancing study, family and art is a juggle particularly as art requires an investment of materials in the immediate and a huge investment in time before sales are possible. Generally I'm not a fan of "crowd funding" but this feels right.

I'm open to commissions so long as there is no expectation on outcome - i.e. "what it will look like" or even colours. The reason being it will immediately stifle my creative process. I also make short films or interviews which combine the skills I have with my love of people and the human experience.

My work is Drawing as distinct from painting. You may say my work looks like painting, after all I use paint, canvas, board etc. But there's a very fundamental difference between the two. Drawing is by nature a direct response, through the shoulder, arm and hand, to the perception of environment. Drawing is generally more spontaneous, unplanned, more free and less constrained than the act of painting. There's also generally less focus on outcome as a "finished piece".

To this end, my drawings become extensions of expression of myself and my experiences. This may seem narcissistic at first but what you may find is the drawings resonate in some way with you. This is because the subject of my work is very much the human story, our origins and our experiences as a collective species. In particular, the stories that bind us across all archetypes and cultures.

In this way, my work is a narrative, a spontaneous laying of perception through mark making, whether it be by ink and brush, paint and brush/hand, crayon, paint stick or pencil on board, canvas or paper, I'm looking for the maximum gesture and expression with the minimum of application. It's been said that simplicity moves us towards our true spiritual nature and it's a funny thing that seeking simplicity is so damn hard and requires a lifetime of perseverance and dedication.
