This Patreon supports the further development of ComicControl and the building of more advanced features, plugins, and templates, and keeps the software free for use by individual creators. What is ComicControl?
ComicControl is a CMS (content management system) that is oriented towards hosting webcomics. With ComicControl, you can easily publish your webcomic on your own website at your host of choice.

I began building what eventually became ComicControl to host my own webcomics starting in 2011, which evolved into ComicControl 1.0 in 2012 when I began working with Hiveworks Comics. I developed the software to address the many issues we encountered working with WordPress to host webcomics, and since then it has gone through several iterations and a complete rewrite with version 4, the version which is now being made available to the public. Over a hundred sites associated with Hiveworks Comics use ComicControl, and its small server footprint has allowed us to host several high traffic comics in an efficient and economical manner.

Why Patreon?
Hiveworks Comics has supported the further development and improvement of ComicControl over its nearly nine year life, and I have worked with them over the past couple of years to make a version suitable for public distribution. Though development of this software has largely been tailored towards addressing the issues and use cases of the couple hundred of creators I have worked with during my time with Hiveworks Comics, I want to use this public release as an opportunity to test its capabilities and look for more ways to improve it to help individual creators. However, these improvements largely depend on my being able to make time for them, which income from Patreon supporters can help me do.

What do I get out of it?
I intend for ComicControl to always be freely available to the small, independent creators it was built for, so subscription to this Patreon is in no way a requirement to use the software. However, I would like in the future to provide premium templates and plugins to subscribers. At the moment, there is only one support level, which will get your name on our website, but as I get feedback and requests, I would like to take a portion of those and turn them into that premium content. After any kinks in the launch are ironed out, I will put out posts calling for requests and begin to assess them to create more assets for supporters.
