I started the channel in what was one of the more challenging times in my life. I did the college thing, got a degree, traveled and found what some might call decent work, but it left me deeply unsatisfied. I wasn't really sure what I was going to do, so I just started taking things out of my life trying to figure out where this elusive happiness thing was that I'd heard so much about, yet had been unable to find in my own life.

I gave up pretty much everything... Music, TV, internet, family, drugs, friends, relationships. You name it, I've quit it and sure at times it felt like it helped, but still I found myself at odds with the world. There was a void and I didn't know what to fill it with. Eventually it got to the point where that wasn't much left in there and it was around that time that I had to decide what I wanted to fill my life with.

I can't say the decision to start making DJ mixes was a conscious one. At the time I was living in an empty apartment. I'd thrown away most of my life, but my turntables and records were just that one part of me that I couldn't part with. So I made a mix and much to my surprise... It felt good. Not much in my life felt good at that point so when I found something that did, I ran with it.

That was about three and a half years ago. My life has changed quite a bit since then. Making these mixes has reconnected me with a dream of myself that I had long ago, but lost due to circumstance and a series of pretty stupid choices. I can't say that I'm still not angry, or confused or even bitter at times. The world isn't always a nice place, but the work that I have done here has shown me that I'm not alone. That I have something of worth to offer the world and that no talent is worth anything unless it is brought into the world and shared.

You all have made this channel what is is. Your belief in me and my mixes has inspired me to take this weird little hobby of mine and take it as far as I possibly can. Just look at my mixes last year and compare them to what I release now. Or even the mixes from two years ago, if you dare... The growth, clarity of vision, feeling and power of the mixes just keeps growing. I have no idea how far I can take it and I find that exciting.

Through the creative process I've found a way to challenge my own ideas of who I am which has led me to being able redefine them on my own terms. It's growth and power and a beautiful process and I can't thank you enough for joining me on this journey. It's going to be a good one.

Thank you for your continued support!

Each mix is inspired by something. Sometimes it's something as subtle as a soft fragrance meandering through the wind and others it's memories of things that I haven't quite processed or moved past yet. I sometimes feel compelled to share what inspires the mixes, but because it's so personal I usually don't. Should you be curious where this madness comes from, this is the place to start.

The essence of a mixtape, to me, is freedom. No rules, no limitations, just an idea expressed through the continuity of music. My favorite way to record a mix is to do it without thinking. Just go up, hit play and see what I'm made of. Some of my best work has been done this way and there is a sense of honesty and sincerity in a mix that has just been let be. Anyone who pledges at this level will get a link to my private stash of mixes.

I get requests for mixes all the time. I do what I can to oblige, but the truth is I'm just one person. Making mixes takes time and I just don't have enough to satisfy every genre request at once. I can see how this might be a potential disaster, but I'd like to open this tier up to requests. Let me know what you want a mix of, songs you'd like to hear or ideas you have for a mix and I'll make it.
Goals
$387 of $3,000 per month
The goal is to be able to quit my day job and do this full time. I know it's kind of a crazy thing to hope for, but I couldn't even begin to tell you how awesome this would make my life. I work 40+ hours a week now, teach on the side and am also a student. I don't have much free time and am still able to drop two mixes a week pretty consistently. Could you imagine what would happen if I had an extra 45 hours a week..? I can't, but I'd like to find out.
