PRESERVE YOUR DNA IDENTITY FOR THE COMING CENTURIES

Imagine for a moment that you are on your death bed
, and you are asked a simple question:
Have you registered for DNA continuance, and if not, would you like to now?

If you think your answer would most likely be YES! - consider joining the Continuance Society. Our sole function is to retain your molecular identity indefinitely, and follow your instructions over time, using smart contracts.

The Society will administer a perpetual collective repository for personal DNA samples, preserved for viability and longevity, from any human that has left behind intact DNA. The Society will also carry forward each member's instructions and funding

This Patreon site allows me, as a founding administrator, to
  • address inquiries for the Continuance Society
  • outline its rationale and projected programs, and
  • gather some membership, committees and a Board of Directors
As a futurist writer and philosopher, I often engage in conversations with life extension, transhumanist etc. immortalists who plan to live beyond a conventional lifespan, but I view their efforts as ancillary to survival - insufficient on their own, resulting in dissolution or contamination of their DNA and consequently the death of their Identity.

My views diverge from theirs because they believe the "Self" is centered in our brain and/or memories, whereas I maintain that the Self or better - Identity - is subtended by our DNA (genotype). If you are regenerated as an identical twin (same phenotype), you have reinstated your Self. You must decide whether to trust your DNA as your Being

It is every bit within our current technology to forever keep our unique order, that is found only in our nuclear DNA, for thousands of years. The simplest reaction to this fact is: why not? Indeed, your personal god-icon may be that genotype, your master blueprint. As a philosopher I find these questions compelling, and would like to come to grips with them.

The Society's position then, is that when you are regenerated in the future, your memories are tabula rasa but your Identity continues unchanged - as it must - on a geologic time scale, and surviving data from a previous life cycle with AI will approach the levels that recalled memories present today.

I will elaborate on this schism as we go along, but one implication is immediate for like thinkers - as long as we preserve our DNA through the coming centuries, we shall never truly be dead, and can be re-introduced into fresh life cycles. Seeds need just be set.

Life grants itself meaning - the singular promise of sequential life cycles - and a prime reason for our species to bond together, to harmonize with a sustainable planet and to navigate through the agreed next 1000 summers, without the singular end that bio-death imposes.

Since it is technically trivial to keep DNA viable (i.e. cool and dry) for thousands of years, given that fact there is a need for a Continuance Society to provide stewardship and a humanist organization that is dedicated solely to DNA "persistence" and its members' individual
instructions
.

Recall how the Jesuits carried the Catholic faith for 400 years, to envisage this kind of dedication. There are no religious affiliations intended beyond responsibility as a common sense, humanistic credo - see also my earlier site on inclusive Humanism.

If you agree with this analysis and wish to participate, please join us as a patron within a Continuance tier on Patreon, and I'll include my first book on continuance "The Humanist - 1000 Summers" (Amazon) with any monthly commitment. I will present a running Blog and forum, a Vol 2 in progressfor your thoughts, and we'll work together from there.

Subsequent tiers to support the Society will range up to a personal blockchain-contracted account, wherein you bequeath funds to your personal account within the Society, for your own continuance and viability toward another life cycle. The Society will utilize state of the art DNA preservation and blockchain contracts for underwriting its commitments and organization.

Please join to keep Life's window open.
