The 2014 killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri sparked an intense and urgently important national conversation about police violence, race, and the criminal justice system. Amid an explosion of interest in the subject, University of Pittsburgh law professor David Harris, a nationally recognized expert on racial profiling and use of force in policing, created the Criminal Injustice podcast to engage and educate listeners on the legal dimension of the criminal justice reform movement.

In wide-ranging interviews with researchers, journalists, activists, reformers within law enforcement, and people whose lives have been touched by the system, Dave illuminates the hidden machinery of the law — from police to courts, from prison to parole, and everything between. We also follow the news, offering expert analysis and timely insights on current events in language anyone can understand.

Your support will help Criminal Injustice reach new audiences, expanding and enriching our content offerings to include more in-depth interviews, more expert analysis of breaking news and context on current events, more absurd stories of "Lawyers Behaving Badly," and more answers to listener questions -- not to mention more content and rewards just for members!

Members get ad-free access to all of our regular episodes, plus exclusive content including special series, videos, and extra bonus episodes available with a monthly contribution of $5. We’ll add more membership tiers with more benefits as we grow, but if you’re inclined to contribute more than $5 right now, we’d sure appreciate it! Either way, it’s cheaper than a law degree and almost as good.

Dave's most popular course offering at the University of Pittsburgh is a seminar exploring surveillance, the war on drugs, and other criminal justice topics as presented in HBO's The Wire. We're adapting these lectures into a fun and informative video series, which we'll roll out on the Members feed when we reach 100 patrons. You can help us get there with a pledge in any amount!

And don't forget: the first 100 members to sign up at the $5 level will get a signed copy of Dave's 2012 book, Failed Evidence: Why Law Enforcement Resists Science!
