Who I am?

Hello! My name is Cristalwolf and I love creating and giving life to my characters, either drawing or writing about them. I've been working with art for many many years and I've been doing my best to become an independent artist, in other words, live my creations and spread them worldwide.

About me

I was born in 1990, in Santos - SP - Brazil. When I was 5, I had to put up with my parents' divorce and so I had to move to Uberlandia, Minas Gerais. I was brought up by a strict and religious doctrine, moral ties that ended up in a terrible depression, which plagued me from childhood to late adolescence. The more I felt myself locked up, the more I wanted to be free. And, in the middle of this chaos, Chronicles of Salt and Moon (Crônicas de Sal e Lua) was born. A mix of words, art and songs that were used as an escape valve for my wild heart. Thanks to my creation, I had the opportunity to develop my artistic skills, which were important to my professional development. Today, under the artistic name of Cristalwolf, I work as a graphic designer, illustrator and writer.

Why “Cristalwolf”?

Nope, "Crystal" isn't mispelled, that's the name I chose. In my opinion, names are one of the most important parts of the human being. Not also for them, but for anything. A name can identify you and takes a great role in your life, so it may change the way you see the world and your personality. It's not only a word, it's the way the universe knows you. I've never been a great fan of my real name, I think it doesn't really show what I am, so that's why I chose my nickname "Cristalwolf".

Wolves are my favorite animal, I always say that and I'm sure I was a wolf in my past life... And a blue one! Anyway, what draws my attention the most about those animals is the perseverance and teamwork. A wolfpack can take days to knock down a prey, tiring it up. They're persistent, hardworkers and especially social animals. And, as social animals, they have hierarchies, like the alpha pair that leads the pack and take care of life-risking responsibilities. Another curious fact is that only the alpha pair mates and give birth to puppies within the pack, staying together their entire lives. The loyalty and fidelity of those animals fascinate me.
Crystals are transparent and prismatic semi-precious stones, able to take different shades of color according to the light which they are exposed to. However, they are also fragile and britter, shattering easily when fallen on the ground. Among the crystals, the one kind I love the most is called "Moon Stone", which is a stone with a mysterious, misty glow, letting, at the same time, a purple and gold tone, giving the feeling of neon.

This name, Cristalwolf, saves my persevering personality, my loyalty to those I love and my passion for people and animals. The crystal part shows my leonine face, the part where I want to show my radiance, my talent, but at the same time it shows that I may be a bit too fragile and brittle especially in terms of health.
