About Curtis

About Me
I 'm Curtis, and I am a teacher who writes fantasy novels, novellas, and short stories. I am obsessed with telling stories.

My Typical Day
Every weekday morning, from 4:30 am to 6:00 am, I create scenes for my current novel, novella, and short story projects. Typically, I work from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm as a middle school teacher. During our busier months, my hours are longer.

When I get home, I spend time with my fiance and our two cats, Horton and Lorax.

What little time is left in the day, I use for writing more scenes in my novel, reading fantasy books, or doing research on writing, packaging, and self-publishing my projects. My dream is to write as many books as I can before I'm dead - just being honest.

What are you currently writing?
  • I recently completed a 94,000-word manuscript called The Witch's Uprising. My friend and editor, Dr. B is looking at it this winter.
  • I am currently writing Threadbare, a short fantasy novella. Threadbare follows Wylla, a young seamstress’s daughter who accidentally discovers a small dragon near the mysterious Darkwood of her village.
  • My next project is . . .  Unbound Blade  - NaNoWriMo 2018

Why fantasy novels and novellas?

There are many genres that speak to me as a writer, but fantasy speaks to me the most. I'm drawn in by crumbling kingdoms, shaky alliances, and the mysterious origins of hired thieves and shapeshifters. In fantasy, magic and intrigue are as commonplace as trees are in a wildwood. The simple answer is... I write fantasy because I love it.
