Thank you for visiting! Why Patreon? Community. Sustainability. Creative Freedom. The Intrinsic Paths patron community has helped me to be a full-time Walking Artist since 2016. Patrons act as a sustaining foundation for every pen art piece, writing piece, walking/movement event, media story with Pedestrian Dignity, mobility justice partnership, and more. The patron + creator relationship gives me greater capacity to care for everyday home/office expenses, invest in materials, nurture long walks to inspire creative process, and offer my time and art in gift/barter (non-monetary) frameworks. You might join if you want to: move more intentionally alongside my creative work make an intentional connection be the first to see new artwork receive art updates (+ discounts & gifts), video reflections, audio practices, creative writing reflections, mobility justice resources, and more support uncountable hours moving with a variety of individuals and groups (with and beyond Pedestrian Dignity & Walk2Connect/America Walks) help me gift artwork and my book, WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up & Connect at 1-3 Miles per Hour (North Atlantic Books, 2022) Welcome Statement People of all backgrounds regardless of age, ability, race, class, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, country of origin, political affiliation, and religious tradition are welcome to join as a patron. This space is unapologetically rooted in healing, compassion, humility, anti-racism, environmental justice, LGBTQIA2S+ thriving, and imperfection. All references to walking are inclusive of moving by wheelchair or powered stroller. Current Projects: Pen Art I have been drawing since I was a child. I filled every blank space on every corner of every work assignment in every class (elementary to university) with tiny drawings. I thrived in art class. It always felt like home. After a year at UNC Greeley, two years at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA, and several years off, I graduated from Metro State University in Denver in 2009 with a degree in Design & Entrepreneurship. Most of my coursework focused on fine art, communications, and non-profit studies. I take my pens and sketchbook with me wherever I go. My artwork is inspired and nurtured from all the time I spend on-foot - long-distance walking experiences, group events, park or neighborhood loops with others, practical transportation. You can browse the shop to see more of my work. All Patrons receive 25% off all art prints and merchandise, always. Patrons also receive discounts on commission projects and original pieces. Walking Invitations & Practices + WALK Book As you will see in much of my artwork, writing, and event hosting, moving in an unhurried way is my primary teacher AND medicine. Ever since my 242-day walk across the U.S. in 2010, I knew that walking for health, connection, healing, justice, and more would be lifelong. Many of the invitations and practices shared in this space touch themes of nature connection, human connection, mindfulness, long-distance walking, pilgrimage, group/family walking/rolling events, justice organizing, and more. As some of you know, my first book, WALK - Slow Down, Wake Up & Connect at 1-3 Miles Per Hour (paperback & audio with North Atlantic Books) was released in August of 2022. The book and the 1.5 year book tour that followed was heavily supported by patrons. Thousands of books - purchased & gifted - now move with so many wonderful people. Pedestrian Dignity, Walk2Connect & Mobility Justice Pedestrian Dignity is a grassroots media project and storytelling initiative using video, photo, audio, and experiential documentation (111K on TikTok & 33K on Instagram) centering the lived experience of all who walk, use wheelchairs, and take transit for transportation, health, and the planet. The Pedestrian Dignity project also hosts occasional in-person events alongside local residents, elected officials, transportation/agency staff, and more. For most of my adult life I have not owned a car. While I am not a trained urban planner or civil engineer, I spend several hours in a day - in all weather conditions, in a wide variety of places - moving by foot. The tension between the vast benefits of walking and the gaps that make it scary, unsafe, and life-threatening show up in all aspects of my creative work. Moving the way we are made to is a human right. Connecting with one another at an unhurried pace is needed medicine. I also help facilitate a number of workshops each year focused on training walk/roll leaders and hosting walk/roll audits America Walks, AARP & the Walk2Connect Program. Patrons directly support every aspect of this work as there are limited resources for the uncountable hours going into it. Breathing & Centering Practices I currently host live and recorded mindfulness invitations through Insight Timer. Many of the recorded audio tracks are movement based. All invitations are secular, casual, and open to/honoring of all paths, traditions (+ no paths/tradition). Movement Weaving Artwork, organizing, fundraising, communications, conceptual design/visioning and more alongside inspiring individuals and grassroots initiatives that tug on my heart and inspire a more loving, connected, and just world. See some of the Movement Weaving organizations supported by Patrons here. No strings attached. No hard feelings for starting, re-arranging, and stopping as a Patron. Health, flow, and dignity for all.
