Hi, I’m Danny!

Thank you for visiting my Patreon page!

My primary creative activity is writing. I'm currently working on a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Media degree at Ryerson University, and my graduate thesis will be an installation based on an oral history project I've been undertaking. (More on this as it develops.) Long term, I'd like to author popular oral histories like those by Studs Terkel, Svetlana Alexievich, and Wallace Terry.

I also write all kinds of other things. My articles and reviews have appeared in AlterNet, New Politics, PopMatters, Bright Lights Film Journal, Nonfics, Tricycle, Religion Dispatches, Culture Matters, and Diabolique, among other publications. In addition, my video essays have been featured by The AV Club, Boing Boing, Gizmodo, No Film School, io9, Films for Action, Film School Rejects, Filmscalpel, and Vimeo Staff Picks.

I blog, vlog, and share audio interviews at my official website (danielclarksonfisher.com) as well. I keep things open-ended in terms of my written posts, but the vlogs and audio interviews are focused on oral history work. They help me deepen my own learning about the practice, and hopefully they're useful to others interested in doing the same.

Currently, I live in Toronto with my partner Stephanie, and work as graduate assistant at Ryerson (CUPE 3904, Unit 3).

Put simply, your patronage helps me keep working. The overhead for all my output is pretty low; what I need most is time to interview, transcribe, read, write, and discuss. Your financial support gives me that time.

I really appreciate your interest and patronage. Also, I understand if becoming a monthly patron is too much; if you would like to make a one-time donation instead, you can do that right here.

Thank you so much again!

With gratitude,
Danny

As such, I hope you'll donate because you want to support what I'm doing, and not because it offers anything that would be withheld from those who can't afford to offer financial support.
