About

D'arby Rose, Film Creative Consultant & Rights Advocate
websiteconsultation form + available services

As an intersectional feminist, I advocate for the rights and inclusion of BIPOC, womxn-identifying, and marginalized folks in the workplace by providing guidance, sharing resources, and leading workshops and courses. I am available for filmmakers, creatives and professionals seeking support moving through individual ventures and assignments.

As a mixed-race (Black, Mexican, and White) womxn, I have faced challenges and the reality of working in the film industry and so I decided to use my experience and skills to help other succeed. While this Patreon serves to support my path as a consultant and advocate, I am also a filmmaker, an artist, a co-founder of Color Film, and a Virgo (duh.)

How can I help you?
As a patron on this platform you can easily set-up monthly consultations with me, watch exclusive content and livestreams, and more. Click here to see the full list of services and to *book* a consultation and a course with me! Let's talk about film production, self-worth and boundaries at work, pay raises, video project feedback, project management, and much more.

By becoming a patron, in addition to many, many perks, you are:
  • Reforming the way information and resources are distributed to marginalized communities.
  • Supporting the fight for equality and equity for BIPOC womxn and marginalized professionals in the film industry and beyond.
  • Helping me connect with creative professionals of all levels and to support us/them towards reaching our/their goals.
  • Elevating the transparency and awareness of our rights as generally unprotected workers (and citizens) (specifically freelance, gig, independent, non-union.)
  • Contributing to a community that is often not included and protected and one that needs more transparency in access to resources and reform in our industries.
  • Receiving information through my live streams, Q&As, content and more

Through almost a decade of film industry experience and ongoing self-education, I work to reform the collective process and methods of working and functioning together in the workplace so that all folks, BIPOC, womxn-identifying, non-binary, and transgender professionals especially, are treated equally. I work to end white supremacy and patriarchy in every element of existing life.

This mission is my lifeline.

In 2011 I moved to Los Angeles from the Bay Area to join the film industry with little college under my belt. I gained experience and built skill sets as a freelancer in the industry as well as event production, nonprofits for youth, and more. While working in this industry, and before entering, I have experienced countless first-handed experiences and have witnessed racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, (you name it) discriminations. Deciding "no more," I took matters into my own hands and co-founded Color Film, where we provide educational and community resources for marginalized filmmakers to self-advocate in the industry through in-person workshops, movie nights, and meet ups. Now, I bring you my next chapter in consulting and advocating for you and your rights and protections in the workplace.

Born and proudly raised in Oakland and Alameda, California, I bring my passion for community and art into my work. Aside from putting in work, I like to self-care, geek out about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, lounge at the park, and hang with my friends social distance-style.

Let’s do this together and not alone.
