About Decentered Media

Decentered Media is about exploring how community media works. We like to think of community media as an example of radical and decentralised community-focussed communications. Think of this as conversations with and between different people who volunteer to make, support and organise community media. Our conversations try to bring people together who may be activists and advocates of community media, who are researchers and policy developers of improved community communications. We explore and discuss our shared values as a contribution to the debate about community media, and its essential social value.

To take part in these discussion we ask that contributors make a small pledge that signal you are interested and willing to take part in these conversations. As little as £1 is fine. Any donations will be used entirely to keep these conversations going, supporting travel costs or buy guests a coffee at any events we run. All help will be hugely appreciated.

As we find our feet, we'll be sharing more content for our subscribers. You get access to our discussion forum, and coming soon will be our online courses. We will keep you posted on a regular basis of what we are up to, and let you know about any new services we think are relevant. We'll always try to find the low-cost and Open Source services first.

Sign-up and join the conversation. We need more people to be sharing their experiences and values that drive them to be community media makers. As we grow we will learn more from one another, if you are just starting out, or if you've been doing this for a while, it's good to share with people who share the same values and outlook.
